EDGNEX Data Centers by DAMAC, a global digital infrastructure company under the DAMAC Group, has revealed plans for a $2.3 billion AI-focused data center in Jakarta (17/6).
With a future capacity of 144 megawatts (MW), it stands as one of Southeast Asia’s largest AI-dedicated projects.
Construction began following the land acquisition in March 2025. Phase one of the facility is scheduled for service readiness by December 2026.
The center will feature high-density AI racks, setting new infrastructure standards in Indonesia.
DAMAC’s Expansion Reinforces Digital Commitment in Southeast Asia
This new facility is EDGNEX’s second data center project in Indonesia.
The company continues its expansion across Southeast Asia with active developments in Thailand, Malaysia, and other key markets.
“This is our second project in Indonesia, and this development reinforces our commitment to bridging the digital divide in fast-growing markets across Southeast Asia,” said Hussain Sajwani, Founder of DAMAC Group.
“We are proud to build what will become one of Southeast Asia’s most advanced, sustainable data centers to power the next wave of innovation and digital growth”.
DAMAC has committed more than $3 billion to digital infrastructure investments in the region.
Addressing Indonesia’s AI Growth and Infrastructure Gaps
Indonesia faces challenges in digital infrastructure, including limited hyperscale readiness and growing latency issues.
The high-density design of the new Jakarta facility responds to rising demand for scalable, energy-efficient systems as AI adoption accelerates.
The project targets a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.32, aligning with EDGNEX’s global energy efficiency and sustainability standards.
It is intended to be a key part of Indonesia’s transition from an analogue to a digital economy.
Building on First Jakarta Site and Meeting Regional Targets
EDGNEX announced its first Jakarta facility in 2024—a 19.2 MW data center at MT Haryono, located within one of the city's most interconnected clusters.
That site will support cloud service providers, edge computing, and AI deployments. Its initial phase is set for completion in the third quarter of 2026.
EDGNEX aims to reach over 300 MW of operational capacity across Southeast Asia by 2026.
The new Jakarta facility supports this regional goal and strengthens the company’s position in high-growth digital markets.
According to Mordor Intelligence, Indonesia’s data center market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.73%, reaching 2.11 thousand MW by 2030.
