“Going forward, Indonesia plans to introduce a Presidential Regulation on Artificial Intelligence. The regulation is designed to balance innovation with accountability. According to Ismail, AI offers opportunities to accelerate inclusive digital transformation, boost economic growth, and improve public service quality.

“Artificial intelligence is not only about technological progress, but how innovation delivers real benefits to society and improves quality of life,” he said.

The roadmap includes ethical principles such as inclusivity, humanity, security, transparency, accountability, personal data protection, sustainability, accessibility, and respect for intellectual property rights.

Global Collaboration and Trust as Key

Indonesia is also promoting global cooperation in AI governance through the Hiroshima AI Process, including sharing best practices, developing international standards, and increasing capacity in developing countries.

Ismail emphasized that trust is the key factor for AI adoption.

“Building trust in AI requires a strong commitment to transparency and accountability, robust data and privacy protection, and effective risk management in the use of AI technology,” he said.

“Artificial intelligence will shape the future of our society. Our shared responsibility is to ensure that future is safe, inclusive, and beneficial for all,” he added.
