BNI Urges Ongoing Environmental Education and Behavior Change at Bali Beach Clean‑Up Event

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) emphasized that environmental protection efforts must be supported by continuous education and changes in community behavior through the BNI Go Green Dare to Clean program at Mertasari Beach, Denpasar (7/2/2026).

The activity focused not only on beach clean-ups but also on educating the community about proper waste management and environmentally friendly daily practices.

Collaboration With Local Community at Mertasari Beach

The program was held in collaboration with the Malu Dong Community and took place at Mertasari Beach, Bali. Alongside cleaning activities, participants received education on sorting waste at its source and applying sustainable habits at the household and community levels.

The initiative aimed to encourage long-term environmental awareness rather than one-time symbolic actions.

Community Leaders Highlight Importance of Sustainable Habits

Malu Dong Community Founder Komang Sudiarta expressed appreciation for BNI’s involvement in supporting long-term environmental movements. He stated that waste problems cannot be solved through short-term actions alone and require the formation of new habits within society.

“Waste management can't be a one-time effort. It must be sustainable. Therefore, education is key to developing new habits in waste management, especially starting at home,” said Komang.

Environmental Cleanliness Linked to Bali’s Tourism Image

Komang added that Bali, as a global tourism destination, needs collective efforts to maintain environmental cleanliness. He noted that waste issues affect not only ecosystems but also the economy and the region’s image.

During the educational session, participants learned practical methods for separating organic and inorganic waste, understanding the reduce, reuse, recycle (3R) concept, and reducing the use of single-use plastics in everyday activities.

“Waste management is a shared responsibility. Households, communities, and corporations each have a role to play. Working together, the impact will be far greater,” he said.

BNI Aligns Environmental Education With TJSL Program

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo stated that the environmental education initiative is part of BNI’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program. He explained that BNI not only promotes direct action but also supports the development of a sustainable waste management ecosystem.

“We believe that big changes start with small, consistent steps. Through collaboration with communities like Malu Dong, BNI aims to make a real impact while strengthening collective awareness of the importance of protecting the environment,” Okki said.

Through these beach clean-up and educational activities, BNI reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to environmental protection and community awareness.
