Indonesia’s planned Rp5 million electric motorcycle incentive is still waiting for the issuance of a Finance Ministry Regulation (PMK), Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said in Jakarta on Monday (17/08).
Agus said the Ministry of Industry, as the technical ministry, is ready to implement the program. However, the implementation can only begin after the Ministry of Finance issues the regulation.
“We are waiting for this, the PMK. Waiting for the PMK,” Agus said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta.
He said the regulation is fully under the authority of the Ministry of Finance. Agus also confirmed that the Ministry of Industry is ready from the technical side.
Ministry of Industry Awaits PMK Before Implementation
Agus said he could not yet confirm the implementation target because it depends on the issuance of the PMK.
“We are already ready, the Ministry of Industry as the technical ministry is already ready. We are just waiting for the PMK. Once the PMK is completed, then we will adjust,” he said.
The Ministry of Industry is therefore waiting for the Finance Ministry regulation before proceeding with the program.
Electric Motorcycle Brands to Be Discussed by Joint Team
Agus said the electric motorcycle brands that will receive the incentive are being discussed jointly by the Ministry of Industry, Danantara Indonesia, and the Ministry of Finance.
“Together, there is a team. Between us, Danantara, and the Finance Minister as well,” Agus said.
Program Initially Targets Around 6 Million Motorcycles
In April 2026, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa proposed that the electric motorcycle incentive program be implemented this year.
The incentive is planned to be distributed in stages, with the initial phase targeted to cover around 6 million motorcycle units.
Purbaya said the program was still under review and would be discussed further with Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
The initial study points to an incentive of around Rp5 million per unit. However, the amount could still change as the policy is finalized.
