Danantara and Arm Launch Semiconductor Training to Build 15,000 Chip Talent in Indonesia

Danantara Indonesia, in collaboration with Arm, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), and supported by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, launched the first wave of Arm training to develop semiconductor talent in Indonesia (20/05).

The intensive three-day program is held on 20–22 May 2026 at Menara Mandiri, Jakarta, and marks the beginning of a broader initiative to train up to 15,000 Indonesian talents in chip design through the Arm ecosystem.

The initiative is part of a strategic effort to strengthen Indonesia’s semiconductor capabilities and build long-term national capacity in chip design and advanced technology.

Strategic Partnership Targets 15,000 Semiconductor Talents

The program follows a framework agreement signed between Danantara Indonesia and Arm in London on 23 February 2026, witnessed by President Prabowo Subianto and Arm CEO Rene Haas.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening technological sovereignty and building domestic capabilities so Indonesia can compete in the global digital economy.

First Cohort of 1,000 Participants and Training Structure

In its initial phase, the program targets up to 1,000 participants, including experienced engineers, fresh graduates, and students.

The training focuses on the fundamentals of chip design using Arm’s global-standard curriculum.

Participants are trained by Arm-certified instructors and receive modules covering chip design using Arm computing technology, access to Arm’s online learning platform, an overview of modern computing systems, and career insights in the semiconductor industry.

The program combines face-to-face training with three months of self-paced online learning to ensure continuous skill development.

Government and Institutional Roles in Talent Development

Kemdiktisaintek is responsible for selecting participants from universities and technical fields while ensuring training relevance to Indonesia’s technological needs. The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs supports the coordination of international collaboration between the Indonesian government and Arm.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said, “Building a globally competitive semiconductor industry requires long-term commitment to developing technical talent, strengthening R&D, and deepening integration into global supply chains. The Danantara and Arm collaboration is a strategic step for Indonesia. With 1,000 talents participating in this course today, we see a bright future, and we are confident that those trained by Arm will become Indonesia’s next leaders in the semiconductor industry.”

Kemdiktisaintek Director General of Research and Development Fauzan Adziman said, “This program is a strategic step to strengthen the national semiconductor talent pipeline from universities. Through the involvement of students, fresh graduates, lecturers, researchers, and technical professionals, this training is expected to become an initial foundation for chip design competency development, applied research, and stronger connections between campuses, industry, and national technology needs.”

Arm Technology and Indonesia’s Semiconductor Development Goals

Semiconductors are described as the foundation for future technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), mobile devices, electric vehicles, and data centers.

Arm’s computing platform provides high-performance and energy-efficient technology that supports global connectivity.

Its ecosystem includes core intellectual property, advanced computing subsystems, and custom silicon design capabilities, enabling local semiconductor development and large-scale AI applications.

As part of the broader collaboration, Danantara Indonesia will use Arm’s high-performance computing platform through the Arm Total Access program.

Future training phases will be expanded across Indonesia, combining in-person training and global digital learning infrastructure to achieve the target of 15,000 trained talents.

The initiative aims to position Indonesia as a value-added player in the global semiconductor industry, which is valued at more than USD 600 billion, by strengthening domestic talent and innovation capacity.
