In a significant move to bolster mental health support for women and children in Indonesia, Hanwha Life has launched the "Mobile Family Center," a mobile service designed to provide psychological and emotional assistance to underserved communities. The official handover to the Indonesian government took place on January 16, 2025, at the Jakarta City Hall, marking a pivotal step in enhancing access to welfare services across the nation.
The Mobile Family Center is a specially modified vehicle equipped with a counseling room, nursing room, and lounge. This mobile unit is scheduled to visit various regions, offering psychological counseling and self-reliance support programs conducted by experts. By bringing these essential services directly to communities, Hanwha Life aims to eliminate the need for long-distance travel to access mental health care, thereby making welfare services more accessible to those in need.
This initiative follows the successful launch of the "Digital Family Center" at the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection in Jakarta in 2023. In collaboration with local child centers, these digital centers have been providing mental health care programs and counseling services to promote the well-being of women and children. The partnership between Hanwha Life, the Jakarta government, and Save the Children has been instrumental in the implementation of these programs since 2023.
The introduction of the Mobile Family Center is particularly timely, given the rising number of violence cases against women and children in Indonesia. Data from the Technical Service Unit for the Center for Women and Children Protection in Jakarta reveals that 1,682 cases were reported in 2023, a significant increase from the 1,455 cases recorded in 2022. These incidents affected 665 girls, 286 boys, and 731 adult women. By reaching communities directly, the Mobile Family Center provides a platform for victims to report incidents and access counseling, especially for those who may be unaware of how to seek help or hesitant to come forward.
The handover ceremony was attended by over 200 participants, including Acting Jakarta Governor Teguh Setyabudi, Hanwha Life Vice President Hong Jeong-pyo, Save the Children Indonesia’s Chief of Program Impact Creation Rosianto Hamid, and Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Ministry Director Mochamad Miftahulloh Tamary, as well as government officials, child protection agencies, and local residents. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the mobile counseling vehicle and provide feedback on its services. Expressing his enthusiasm, Hong Jeong-pyo stated, "We are delighted to bring essential support to the residents through the Mobile Family Center. We will continue to uphold our social responsibilities to improve the quality of life for Indonesian communities."
Since entering the Indonesian market in 2012, Hanwha Life has steadily expanded its presence, operating 26 branches across the country, with its headquarters in Jakarta. The company has been deeply involved in social initiatives, including volunteer work for children in underserved areas, the establishment of community child centers, and youth entrepreneurship academies. Looking ahead, Hanwha Life plans to expand its community-centered initiatives globally, focusing on inclusive finance and outreach programs to make a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable populations.
