IBMA Strengthens Indonesia’s Bullion Market to Boost Gold Downstream Industry Growth

The Indonesia Bullion Market Association (IBMA) has accelerated efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s national gold ecosystem by holding a plenary meeting shortly after its establishment, aiming to create a more integrated, transparent, and globally competitive bullion market (21/07).

The association was formed by Indonesian bullion industry players to support the development of a credible, efficient, and sustainable bullion market through collaboration, standardization, education, and strengthening of the national industry ecosystem.

IBMA is expected to become a strategic collaboration platform for industry players across the gold value chain, from upstream to downstream sectors. The association will also support policy development, improve industry standards, and strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s bullion market at regional and global levels.

The acceleration of integration within the bullion ecosystem is expected to speed up gold downstream development, create more diverse gold-based products, and strengthen Indonesia’s position as a bullion market center in Southeast Asia.

BSI Supports National Bullion Ecosystem Through Gold Services

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI), as one of the founders of IBMA, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the strengthening of Indonesia’s national bullion industry.

Together with other IBMA members, BSI discussed the direction of bullion bank development. The company has developed gold trading, gold custody, and gold savings services as part of its bullion business development.

As of May 2026, BSI was trusted to manage more than 23 tons of gold.

BSI Director of Sales and Distribution and IBMA Secretary General Anton Sukarna said the company continues to educate the public that gold remains accessible to various groups.

“We continue to educate the public that gold is one of the safest sharia investments and has long-term intrinsic value. Especially amid dynamic economic conditions, we have prepared several strategic steps so that gold can remain accessible to all groups,” Anton said.

Digital Gold Access Expands Through BSI Platform

The public can currently access gold with smaller denominations through BSI’s BYOND by BSI mobile banking service. Through the digital platform, gold can be purchased starting from around Rp50,000 and accessed anytime and from anywhere.

BSI is also preparing education programs and new bullion bank features, including regular gold savings.

Through stronger collaboration between IBMA and market players, including BSI, Indonesia is preparing to optimize and monetize precious metals. The IBMA plenary meeting marks a new phase in which Indonesia aims not only to become a gold producer but also to strengthen its role in managing its own gold market.

IBMA Pushes Gold Transformation into a Productive Financial Asset

IBMA Chairman and Director of Marketing, Sales, and Product Development at PT Pegadaian (Persero) Selfie Dewiyanti said the association carries a major transformation mission for the national economy.

“The presence of IBMA carries a major transformation mission for the national economy. We want to change the paradigm of society and the industry toward gold, from previously only being used to protect asset value, into a productive, liquid, and active financial asset,” Selfie said.

The agreement was attended by IBMA members, including PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk, PT Pegadaian (Persero), PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk, PT Untung Bersama Sejahtera, PT Laku Emas Indonesia, PT Indonesia Commodity & Derivatives Exchange, PT Brinks Solutions Indonesia, PT Central Mega Kencana, PT Hartadinata Abadi Tbk, PT Pegadaian Galeri Dua Empat (Galeri 24), and PT Sentral Kreasi Kencana.
