BSI International Expo 2026 Expands Global Market Access for Indonesian MSMEs

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BSI) is expanding international market access for Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through its BSI Business Hub at BSI International Expo 2026, connecting local products with potential international buyers and business partners (22/10).

The event will take place from October 23 to 25, 2026, at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC).

BSI International Expo 2026 Targets Global Halal Market Opportunities

Held under the theme “Buy Local Go Global,” BSI International Expo 2026 aims to help Indonesian MSMEs explore opportunities in international markets, particularly in the growing global halal economy.

According to the State of the Global Islamic Economy (SGIE) Report 2025/26, Muslim consumer spending across six Islamic economy sectors reached US$2.60 trillion in 2024. This figure is projected to increase to US$3.56 trillion by 2029.

BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo said the industry's growth potential must be supported by businesses that are prepared to meet consumer needs and international market requirements.

“The halal industry has great potential to become a driver of economic growth. Therefore, Indonesian MSMEs need to continue improving their business capacity, product quality, and readiness to reach broader markets,” he said.

BSI Business Hub Connects Indonesian MSMEs With International Buyers

BSI supports MSME development through ongoing mentoring, training, and incubation programs at its BSI UMKM Center. The bank also provides financing access and market opportunities through its business hub.

To strengthen international connections, BSI uses its network in Dubai and relationships with trade attachés and chambers of commerce in target countries. At the previous year's event, the bank opened networking opportunities for MSMEs with trade attachés and chambers of commerce from approximately 20 countries.

This year, BSI is continuing to strengthen these business connections, including through trade attachés in Jeddah and Dubai.

As part of the BSI International Expo 2026 program, dozens of MSMEs are participating in promotional activities targeting potential overseas buyers. Six businesses from the food and beverage sector have been selected through a curation process to introduce their products and explore business opportunities.

BSI Provides Training to Prepare MSMEs for International Markets

In addition to facilitating market access, BSI is helping MSME owners understand the opportunities and challenges of international expansion through a webinar titled “Go Global with Confidence: Langkah Emas UMKM Naik Kelas.”

The webinar features the Chief Representative of Dubai Chamber Indonesia and Octaviana Rombe, owner of Kopi Ketjil, which has an outlet in Dubai. The session is intended to provide practical insights into entering international markets.

The program complements BSI's broader efforts to strengthen MSME capacity through business mentoring, training, incubation, financing access, and expanded business networks.

More Than 24,000 BSI MSME Customers Advance to Higher Business Segments

Over the past three years, more than 24,000 BSI MSME customers have recorded progress to higher business segments, according to the bank.

The figure includes more than 1,600 customers who moved from the Super Micro segment to Micro People's Business Credit (KUR), approximately 17,000 who progressed from Micro KUR to Small KUR and commercial financing, and 3,800 who moved from Small KUR to the commercial segment. More than 1,000 additional customers progressed from the micro segment to the small and medium enterprise category.

Anggoro said BSI would continue supporting MSME development by strengthening business capacity and expanding market access.

“We want Indonesian MSMEs not only to be able to produce quality products, but also to have opportunities to connect with the right markets and business partners. Through business mentoring, financing access, and expanded business networks, BSI hopes to help MSMEs develop their businesses sustainably and improve the competitiveness of Indonesian products in global markets,” he said.
