FDC Dental Clinic Accelerates Booking System with Vertex AI and Gemini Technology

FDC Dental Clinic (FDC) has reduced patient appointment booking time from up to 1 hour to around 15 seconds by using artificial intelligence (AI) technology developed in collaboration with Google Cloud and technology partner Tridorian (08/06).

FDC said the technology was introduced to improve access to dental healthcare services by providing a faster, easier, and more convenient experience for patients.

“Amid limited access to dental healthcare services in Indonesia, FDC continues to strive to provide a faster, easier, and more convenient service experience for the public,” said drg Ita Lestari, MARS, Founder and CEO of FDC.

Google Cloud AI Streamlines Appointment Scheduling

According to Ita, the appointment booking process was previously handled through a chatbot system managed manually by the company’s internal team.

As the number of patients increased, booking requests could reach thousands at the same time, forcing patients to wait up to one hour to secure an appointment with a dentist.

To address this issue, FDC developed a booking system powered by Google Cloud’s Vertex AI and Gemini technologies.

Through the system, patients can select a clinic, choose an appointment schedule, and complete a down payment through the application within a short period of time.

The AI technology also enables more personalized interactions by adapting language and communication styles to users in different regions across Indonesia.

AI Increases Operational Efficiency Across Clinics

FDC Chief Technology Officer M. Reza Avesena said the use of AI has improved not only patient services but also the company’s operational efficiency.

Previously, one agent could only manage one clinic. With the new system, one agent can now support the operations of up to 30 clinics simultaneously.

The improvement allows the company to serve more patients without reducing service quality.

Recruitment Process Becomes Faster with AI

FDC has also adopted AI technology in its employee recruitment process to support the expansion of its clinic network across Indonesia.

The company said its Human Resources team can now screen hundreds of curriculum vitae (CVs) in the time that was previously required to review a single CV manually.

This has accelerated the process of identifying and recruiting talent needed by the company.

“Since the beginning, we have worked closely with the Google Cloud and Tridorian teams. The hands-on approach from our partners and open communication in building the solution architecture helped us realize FDC’s vision,” Reza said.

Cloud Infrastructure Supports Growth and Expansion

FDC operates its digital platform through Google Cloud’s Cloud Run service, which automatically adjusts capacity based on demand.

The company said the technology has helped reduce infrastructure costs by up to 35% while maintaining system reliability amid increasing patient numbers and business expansion.

FDC currently serves more than 1.5 million users through its digital platform and operates dozens of clinics in cities across Indonesia.

Currently, FDC serves more than 1.5 million users through its digital application platform and operates dozens of clinics in various cities across Indonesia. With AI technology support, FDC is optimistic it can accelerate its target of expanding to more than 100 clinics while broadening public access to quality and affordable dental healthcare services,” said drg. Ita Lestari, MARS.
