Microsoft Expands AI Cloud Services in Indonesia Central, Local Organizations Get Advanced AI Tools

Microsoft has announced the availability of its latest AI and cloud services in the Indonesia Central cloud region, enhancing local organizations’ ability to develop next-generation AI solutions (27/11). This comes six months after the launch of its first cloud region in the country.

The announcement was made during the Cloud & AI Innovation Summit in Jakarta, attended by more than 200 decision-makers from leading companies, partners, and public institutions. Key speakers included Mike Chan, General Manager of Microsoft Asia Azure AI Apps & Agents, and Dharma Simorangkir, President Director of Microsoft Indonesia, alongside major customers and partners accelerating innovation through Microsoft Cloud and AI.

Dharma Simorangkir stated:

"With the latest Cloud and AI services now available in Indonesia Central, we open opportunities for every organization to innovate in Indonesia, for Indonesia. We invite companies, developers, and public institutions to leverage this local infrastructure and deliver solutions addressing the country’s most important challenges and opportunities."

Frontier Firms Driving Local AI Innovation

Microsoft highlighted the concept of Frontier Firms, companies that go beyond experimenting with AI to redesign operations, delivering value to customers, employees, and communities.

Local organizations are leveraging Azure-powered services, including:

  • Azure App Services for faster development of intelligent, data-connected applications.
  • Azure Databases to manage and secure critical business data.
  • AI Infrastructure such as NVadsA10_v5 and NCads_H100_v5 virtual machines, designed for advanced AI training, inference, and high-performance computing, now locally available in Indonesia Central.

Microsoft 365 Copilot and GitHub Copilot are also available locally, bringing AI into productivity workflows and software development.

Several companies are already benefiting, including Petrosea, Vale Indonesia, and digital-native platforms like tiket.com, which uses agentic AI to improve customer experiences. Irvan Bastian Arief, PhD, Vice President of Technology GRAND, Data & AI at tiket.com, said:

"Our AI advancements are designed to provide the best experience for tiket.com users."

Microsoft Fabric Enables Integrated Data and AI

The summit also announced the general availability of Microsoft Fabric in Indonesia, an AI-powered integrated data platform that simplifies data management and analytics.

Fabric includes Data Lake, Data Engineering, Data Integration, Data Science, Data Warehousing, Real-time Intelligence, Business Intelligence, and Copilot integration. It allows organizations to connect, prepare, and analyze data across all business lines, improving agility, governance, and cost efficiency.

Developing the Next Generation of AI Talent

Microsoft introduced the second year of Microsoft Elevate, its AI skills development initiative, which has trained over 1.2 million people. The program now focuses on human-centered AI innovation, aiming to certify 500,000 AI talents, including educators, nonprofit leaders, and community innovators, by 2026.

Participants gain practical skills and apply AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Learning Accelerator, Minecraft Education, and AI learning modules to solve real-world challenges in classrooms, communities, and organizations.

Dharma Simorangkir added:

"Cloud and AI are no longer just technologies; they are the backbone of national competitiveness. Our focus is not only on infrastructure but also on ensuring Indonesian society is ready to lead in the AI era."

Strengthening Indonesia’s AI Ecosystem

Microsoft reaffirmed its long-term commitment of USD 1.7 billion from 2024 to 2028 to develop cloud and AI infrastructure, ecosystem programs, and skill-building initiatives in Indonesia.

The company will also host GitHub Universe Jakarta on 3 December 2025, focusing on AI innovation and open collaboration for software developers and startups.

From hyperscale infrastructure to developer empowerment, Microsoft continues to partner with Indonesia to establish the country as a regional hub for safe, inclusive, and sustainable AI innovation.
