How IKEA Indonesia Works with 17 Local Manufacturers to Bring “Made in Indonesia” Products to 60+ Countries

IKEA Indonesia continues to enhance collaboration with local manufacturers. This commitment was highlighted during an event with the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Trade at IKEA Alam Sutera on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, emphasizing the role of local producers, suppliers, and partners in IKEA’s global supply chain.

Under PT DFI Retail Nusantara Tbk, IKEA Indonesia sees collaboration with local suppliers as a sustainable business strategy that allows both the company and its partners to grow together.

Expanding Indonesian Products to Global Markets

Managing Director Charlie Landale stated that IKEA works with 17 local suppliers producing products labeled “Made in Indonesia.” These items are available in IKEA stores in Indonesia and are also part of collections enjoyed in over 60 countries.

“More than 500 IKEA stores operate worldwide. Some Indonesian products, including the BUKSBO rattan basket, DJUNGELSKOG plush toys, and NYKIL sofa beds, have become favorites in various countries,” Landale said.

The partnerships have contributed significantly to increasing exports of Indonesian products while strengthening Indonesia’s role in IKEA’s global supply chain. They also create jobs and develop local workforce skills in various industrial sectors.

Government Officials Applaud Skill Development and Export Growth

Adie Rochmanto Pandiangan, Expert Staff to the Minister of Industry, praised IKEA for developing the skills of local suppliers. He described it as a strategic investment that helps local artisans meet global quality standards.

“We appreciate IKEA involving local suppliers in product creation. This effort strengthens local talent, creates a more skilled and globally competitive workforce, and supports increasing the export value of Indonesian-made products,” Adie said.

Iqbal Shoffan Shofwan, Director General of Domestic Trade, noted that IKEA’s partnership with local suppliers helps expand Indonesian products’ reach in international markets.

“This collaboration enhances the competitiveness and image of Indonesian products globally and aligns with the Ministry of Trade’s priority to increase global market access for leading Indonesian products,” Iqbal said.

Supporting SMEs and Local Communities through Teras Indonesia

In addition to working with industrial-scale manufacturers, IKEA also supports small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and local communities through its Teras Indonesia program. Launched in 2017, the program has allowed over 1,000 SMEs to sell their products in IKEA stores at no cost.

Through this initiative, IKEA combines local creativity with its global retail network, reflecting its vision to improve daily life for customers and surrounding communities.
