The Science and Technology Park Agency (LKST) of IPB University has launched the PRIME STeP 2025 program as part of its continued efforts to support innovative startups through structured development and mentoring.
IPB University Selects 16 Innovative Startups for 2025 Cohort
A total of 16 startups from various fields were selected for the 2025 cycle after passing a competitive and rigorous selection process. These startups are set to continue the development of entrepreneurship rooted in innovation.
“Alhamdulillah, the startups selected this year are quite good and most of them already have a market. The PRIME STeP program is here to accelerate their growth so that they can become strong startups in the field,” said Prof Erika B Laconi, Chairman of LKST IPB University.
She also noted that several startups from the 2024 batch have advanced to a higher level, with visible improvements in both their products and market reach.
Multi-Stage Development: From Incubation to Acceleration
The PRIME STeP program is organized in phases: starting with incubation, followed by pre-acceleration, and ending with acceleration. This tiered approach allows each startup to receive the appropriate level of support for its stage of growth.
Mentoring is delivered in a clustered format, allowing for more focused and relevant guidance. An evaluation is conducted to measure program effectiveness and identify necessary improvements.
Comprehensive Mentoring: Compliance, Finance, and Business Growth
Startups enrolled in PRIME STeP receive comprehensive assistance. This includes guidance in program development, budget planning, and training on transparent and accountable financial management.
Participants also attend coaching sessions on marketing, business development, regulatory compliance, and tax obligations. A major focus is helping startups meet regulatory standards, including halal certification, distribution permits, and tax compliance.
“Startups must not only grow, but also comply with regulations. That way, they can make a real contribution through innovative products and proper tax compliance,” said Prof Laconi.
Asian Development Bank Supports Long-Term Program Goals
The 2025 program marks the third year of PRIME STeP. It is supported by funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and is planned to continue through 2027. The initiative aims to produce resilient and highly competitive startups from within the IPB University environment.
“We hope that through PRIME STeP, outstanding startups will emerge that can make a positive impact on society while strengthening Indonesia’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem,” said Prof Laconi.
