The Indonesian government reaffirmed its commitment to keeping the digital space safe and healthy, particularly for younger generations.
The Ministry of Communication and Digital has shut down six Facebook groups found to contain deviant pornographic content.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Angga Raka Prabowo, said his office has asked Meta to closely monitor and block similar groups in the future.
“Several similar groups have already been identified and directly blocked. But that’s not enough,” he stressed in Central Jakarta, Thursday (22/5).
Meta Asked to Cooperate with Law Enforcement
Angga Raka urged Meta and other digital platforms to actively cooperate with authorities in tracking down the individuals behind these harmful groups.
“We are also urging Meta to work actively with law enforcement to identify and submit data on the group owners and administrators,” he said.
According to the Deputy Minister, the individuals responsible must face strict legal action.
“This is a serious crime that damages morality and endangers our children,” he stated.
Public Participation Urged for Reporting Content
He also expressed concern over the rise of such online deviance, which violates both legal and social norms.
Citizens are encouraged to report similar content through the official channel at aduankonten.id.
“We ask the public to monitor and report any potential groups with similar content,” he added.
