Strengthening the Halal Ecosystem: Bank Indonesia’s Commitment to SMEs

In her opening remarks, Destry Damayanti, Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, emphasized the bank's commitment to expanding market access for Indonesian SMEs by creating a robust, innovation-driven, and sustainable halal ecosystem.

"We believe this initiative will open new avenues for Indonesian SMEs, introduce alternatives to the Japanese market, and provide valuable feedback to enhance the competitiveness of our products," Destry stated.

Key Partnerships and MOU Signings

The forum marked the signing of four memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with a total value of IDR 7.8 billion. These agreements included:

  • Aranaspice and Koh Juku for cocoa commodities valued at IDR 4.25 billion
  • Wastraloka and Stoneman Co. Ltd for fashion products valued at IDR 1.17 billion
  • Agung Bali and Kawabe Naomitsu for home décor products valued at IDR 288 million
  • Joglo Ayu Tenan and Alyssa for accessories valued at IDR 100 million.

Additionally, Sila Tea launched its representative office in Japan, expanding the reach of Indonesia’s artisan tea in the international market with an investment and transaction valued at IDR 20 billion.

Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Highlights Strategic Partnership

The Indonesian Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Heri Akhmadi, attended the event, affirming Indonesia's readiness to become a strategic partner for Japan in strengthening global halal value chains and sustainable product development.

Business Matching and Promoting Indonesian SMEs

A panel discussion on “Scaling Halal Lifestyle and Sustainable Products: Unlocking Opportunities in the Global Market” explored Japan’s technological collaboration with Indonesian SMEs.

The forum concluded with a business matching session involving 10 potential international buyers from Japan and surrounding countries, alongside 30 SMEs supported by Bank Indonesia.

Additionally, Bank Indonesia promoted products from 52 SMEs, including members of the Indonesian Sharia Creative Industry (IKRA).
