Shopee Drops J&T Express: What It Means for Sellers?

Shopee has announced that it will no longer offer standard and economy delivery services from J&T Express in Indonesia, effective April 2025. A Shopee spokesperson confirmed the change, stating that it only applies to the Indonesian market and does not impact other regions. Shopee has been informing sellers about this transition since March to ensure operational readiness.

Despite this removal, J&T Cargo—a separate division of J&T Express specializing in large parcels up to 600 kilograms—will still be available as a delivery option on Shopee. J&T Express has also confirmed the discontinuation but clarified that its services remain accessible on other marketplaces.

Shopee has not disclosed whether this decision is temporary or permanent. However, the platform still collaborates with ten other logistics partners, including its in-house Shopee Xpress (SPX), JNE, Pos Indonesia, Anteraja, and SiCepat. These logistics providers offer standard delivery services, typically taking two to seven days, while some also provide economy delivery at a lower cost.

According to a previous Tech in Asia analysis, Shopee Xpress and J&T Express had been the most affordable shipping options on Shopee. During Sea Group’s latest earnings call, Shopee CEO Forrest Li emphasized the strategic role of Shopee Xpress, highlighting its broad geographic coverage, faster delivery speeds, and cost advantages.

For J&T Express, Indonesia remains its second-largest market after China, handling around 4 million packages daily. Before its $450 million IPO in 2023, the company secured billions in venture capital funding, reinforcing its significant role in the region’s logistics sector.
