Cybersecurity Boost: Komdigi and BSSN Tighten Collaboration

Indonesia is taking significant steps to bolster its cybersecurity infrastructure through a strategic collaboration between the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) and the National Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN). This initiative aims to enhance national cyber resilience and strengthen the country’s digital defense mechanisms.

Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, emphasized the importance of a rapid and well-coordinated response in maintaining Indonesia’s digital stability. She highlighted the need for a proactive approach to cybersecurity threats, ensuring that leaders remain vigilant at all times.

"Moving forward, this synergy must be stronger and more proactive. Leaders must be prepared 24/7 to respond to potential cyber threats. This is not just a technical effort but a strategic move for national resilience," Meutya stated after meeting with BSSN Chief Nugroho Sulistyo Budi at the Komdigi office on Friday (February 21, 2025).

She further stressed that coordination between Komdigi and BSSN must be seamless and free from bureaucratic obstacles to ensure a more effective digital security framework.

"President Prabowo Subianto has given clear directives: cybersecurity is a national priority. We must continue to innovate and adapt to keep Indonesia strong in the face of digital challenges," she added.

BSSN Chief Nugroho Sulistyo Budi reaffirmed his agency’s commitment to strengthening this collaboration.

"Since my appointment, I have immediately implemented the President’s instructions: strengthen coordination and act swiftly. This is not just a commitment but a concrete step towards creating a safer digital space," Nugroho asserted.

The cooperation between BSSN and Komdigi will focus on three key areas: strengthening cyber defense systems, improving cybersecurity regulations, and developing data protection technologies.

"We will work together on securing digital infrastructure, mitigating cyber threats, and protecting sensitive data. Regulations and technical implementations must go hand in hand," Nugroho explained.

As digital threats continue to evolve, this partnership represents more than just collaboration—it is a strategic initiative to fortify Indonesia’s cyber defenses. The government remains committed to innovation and swift action to safeguard the nation’s digital sovereignty.
