LG Electronics has formed a strategic partnership with Microsoft to lead innovations in artificial intelligence (AI). Based on a report by Korea JoongAng Daily, this collaboration merges LG’s customer insights with Microsoft’s advanced AI technologies to create empathetic and responsive AI agents.
During a press conference at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, LG Electronics CEO Cho Joo-wan highlighted the company’s focus on "affectionate intelligence." According to Cho, this approach allows AI to anticipate user needs and preferences, offering seamless integration across homes, vehicles, offices, and other spaces.
“Affectionate intelligence that cares and empathizes with customers is now evolving into a technology that provides a comprehensive experience that seamlessly connects across multiple physical and virtual spaces,” said Cho.
According to Yonhap News, LG has incorporated Microsoft’s voice recognition and speech synthesis technology into its AI home hub. This enables the hub to understand different accents and interact more naturally with users.
LG and Microsoft are also co-developing AI agents designed to predict customer needs. These agents aim to deliver personalized experiences by analyzing user behavior and preferences in real time.
LG’s global network of connected devices is a key advantage in this partnership. With billions of smart products in use and collaborations with over 170 Internet of Things (IoT) brands, LG can leverage extensive data to improve customer lifestyle insights.
The collaboration also includes innovations for AI data centers. Based on the Korea JoongAng Daily report, LG’s Chiller cooling systems will be integrated into Microsoft’s AI infrastructure to enhance performance.
The partnership extends to smart mobility solutions. LG plans to apply Microsoft’s AI technologies to its automotive offerings, including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and other vehicle innovations.
According to LG, this collaboration reinforces its commitment to providing advanced AI solutions that enhance everyday experiences across diverse spaces.
