Pertamina’s gas subholding, PT PGN Tbk, continues to play a strategic role in Indonesia’s energy transition. With a mission to lead this transition, PGN provides reliable, affordable, and sustainable natural gas solutions nationwide. The company operates over 33,000 kilometers of downstream gas infrastructure, serving more than 820,000 customers across 17 provinces and 74 cities and regions.
As of September 2024, PGN reported a gas distribution volume of 854 BBTUD and a transmission volume of 1,527 MMSCFD, underlining its dominance in managing 95% of Indonesia’s natural gas infrastructure. This commitment earned PGN three prestigious awards at the 2024 BPH Migas Awards, held on December 13.
PGN was recognized as the "Best Natural Gas Trading Company (Large Category)" and "Best Natural Gas Transporter (Small-to-Medium Category)" for its significant contributions to gas volume distribution. Additionally, PGN received the title of "Largest Volume Provider for Special Gas Price Assignment (HGBT)." The company’s implementation of HGBT has benefited 258 customers across seven industrial sectors and power plants, achieving 100% reliability.
PGN subsidiaries also excelled, with PT Transportasi Gas Indonesia, PT Pertamina Gas, and PT Kalimantan Jawa Gas receiving accolades in various categories. These awards demonstrate the group’s dedication to advancing Indonesia’s natural gas sector and supporting national energy policies.
Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot Tanjung, commended the efforts of stakeholders during the award ceremony. “We hope collaborations between central and regional governments and businesses continue to grow. Despite slight economic growth adjustments, Indonesia has maintained an 8% growth rate in recent years,” he stated.
Arief Setiawan Handoko, PGN’s President Director, highlighted the significance of these achievements. “These awards are a testament to the hard work of all PGN employees who consistently deliver the best service in domestic gas distribution. PGN strives to catalyze national economic growth and support energy self-sufficiency through clean and efficient energy,” he said on December 23.
Arief also praised the company’s subsidiaries for their dedication and innovation in providing safe and sustainable gas services. “These recognitions prove PGN’s vital role in strengthening national energy resilience and advancing Indonesia’s gas sector,” he concluded.
