Edelweiss Healthcare Group to Build 10 Hospitals in West Java

Edelweiss Healthcare Group has announced an ambitious plan to build 10 hospitals across West Java within the next five years. This initiative aims to address the region's growing healthcare needs and provide accessible, high-quality medical services to local communities.

To support this expansion, Edelweiss has entered into a strategic partnership with PT Bank Maybank Indonesia Tbk, securing Sharia-compliant financing. The agreement, signed on December 20, 2024, will fund the development of new healthcare facilities and enhance existing ones, including the Edelweiss Hospitals in Bandung and Cianjur. This collaboration underscores Edelweiss's commitment to delivering international-standard healthcare services in West Java.

Syauqi Robbani, Chairman of Edelweiss Healthcare Group, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, "Edelweiss Healthcare Group focuses on providing quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare services. We aim to launch 10 hospitals in West Java over the next five years." He also highlighted the significant economic impact of medical tourism, noting that Indonesia loses approximately IDR 180 trillion annually due to citizens seeking medical treatment abroad. This statistic highlights the substantial opportunity for domestic hospitals to enhance their services and technology to compete globally.

The financing provided by Maybank Indonesia utilizes Sharia principles, specifically the Musyarakah Mutanaqisah and Ijarah Muntahiyah Bit Tamlik contracts. This aligns with Maybank Indonesia's "Shariah First" strategy, aiming to integrate Islamic financial solutions into various sectors, including healthcare. Romy Buchari, Director of Maybank Indonesia's Sharia Business Unit, stated, "We believe this step will have a sustainable positive impact on the community."

Since its establishment in 2020, Edelweiss Healthcare Group has been dedicated to providing superior healthcare services. Currently, the group operates two hospitals and two clinics, offering specialized services such as Executive Poly, including Cataract, Dental, ENT, Trauma Center, Urology, Digestive, and Sub-Specialties, as well as Advanced Care for Mother & Children. The planned expansion aims to meet the increasing demand for quality healthcare facilities in West Java, particularly in underserved areas.

This strategic expansion by Edelweiss Healthcare Group, supported by Maybank Indonesia's Sharia-compliant financing, represents a significant step toward improving healthcare access and quality in West Java. The initiative is expected to create job opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and enhance the overall health infrastructure in the region.
