Indonesia Calls on Huawei for Support in Tech Advancements

Indonesia is looking to major technology firms, including Huawei, to support its vision for technological advancement and workforce development. With the nation's focus on achieving its “Golden Indonesia 2045” aspirations, the government sees significant contributions from global industry leaders like Huawei as vital in shaping the country's future.

Indonesia's Deputy Minister of Industry, Faisol Riza, recently visited Huawei’s Innovation Center in Jakarta, emphasizing the importance of Huawei's involvement in the nation's technology transformation. He expressed his appreciation for Huawei’s efforts in bringing advanced technology and business to Indonesia. “We invite Huawei and the tech industry to contribute to the improvement of Indonesia’s human resources and technological capabilities,” he stated.

The Deputy Minister highlighted Huawei’s role in helping Indonesia achieve its long-term development goals, particularly in advancing technological infrastructure. He urged Huawei to continue investing and contributing positively to Indonesia’s growth and development, hoping that their business operations would thrive within the country.

In addition to promoting technological progress, Faisol emphasized the importance of a conducive business climate for foreign investment. He suggested that Huawei take an active role in offering advice and assistance to address challenges they may face with government services, in turn helping improve the overall business environment in Indonesia.

Another key point raised during the visit was the need to increase local content in Huawei’s operations. The Deputy Minister called for Huawei to improve the domestic content ratio, which would contribute to boosting the competitiveness of local industries and enhancing the national economy. Huawei was also encouraged to consider developing technologies and possibly establishing manufacturing plants in Indonesia, further supporting the country’s industrial growth.

Jennifer Feng, CFO of Huawei Indonesia, welcomed the Deputy Minister’s visit, expressing her optimism for future collaborations between Huawei and the Indonesian government. She stated, “We look forward to working with the Indonesian government to contribute more to the nation’s growth and support Indonesia’s ambitious goals.”

The collaboration between Huawei and Indonesia highlights the country’s drive to modernize its industries, particularly in technology, and position itself as a major player in the global economy by 2045. Huawei’s continued support in these areas will be a key factor in Indonesia’s efforts to create a robust, competitive workforce and technological infrastructure.
