PT PLN (Persero) Group has achieved an extraordinary milestone by receiving 42 awards at the 2024 EBTKE Stakeholder Performance Appreciation Night. Held in Jakarta on December 17, the event celebrated significant contributions to renewable energy development and emission reduction in Indonesia. Among the accolades, PLN received 10 prestigious Aditama awards, reflecting its leadership in driving Indonesia’s transition to green energy.
The awards were presented by the Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Yuliot Tanjung, emphasized the government's commitment to energy security and industrialization. He highlighted the vast potential of Indonesia’s renewable energy sources, including solar, hydro, geothermal, and biomass, which collectively represent an estimated capacity of 3,600 gigawatts (GW).
"By prioritizing renewable energy, we not only enhance energy security but also ensure equitable energy access across Indonesia," stated Tanjung. He called on stakeholders to maximize the country’s renewable energy potential to bolster economic growth and reduce emissions.
Renewable Energy Progress and Job Creation
Director General of EBTKE, Eniya Listiani Dewi, reported notable advancements in 2024, with renewable energy utilization reaching 14.1 GW. This achievement created approximately 13,200 jobs and generated USD 1.49 billion in investments. Dewi expressed hope that the awards would inspire greater collaboration to meet Indonesia’s green energy goals.
PLN’s Commitment to Net Zero Emissions
Darmawan Prasodjo, President Director of PLN, expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating that it would further motivate the organization to enhance its renewable energy initiatives. "This is an important milestone for PLN as we work towards achieving net zero emissions by 2060 or sooner," he said.
The 10 Aditama awards received by PLN Group include various categories, such as bioenergy and renewable energy power plant projects. Notable achievements include:
- Bioenergy Cofiring Biomass: Recognized for projects by PT PLN Nusantara Power UP Paiton and others.
- Hydropower Projects: Awards for PT PLN Nusantara Power UP Cirata.
- Building and Residential Energy Solutions: Recognition for sustainable initiatives by PT PLN Indonesia Power UBP Priok and others.
Driving Future Growth in Renewable Energy
As a leader in renewable energy, PLN Group is spearheading the development of a green electricity ecosystem through its subsidiary, PLN Nusantara Renewables. As of mid-2024, this subsidiary manages 3,210 MW of renewable power plants, with further expansions underway. Additionally, PLN’s Green Energy as a Service (GEAS) initiative supports industrial clients in transitioning to sustainable energy.
