Green Tech Startup Converts Food Waste to Valuable Resources

Envmission, an Indonesia-based green tech startup, has unveiled its latest innovation, the EnvmissionSuite, designed to transform food waste into valuable resources such as biofuel, biochar, and synthetic gas (syngas). This cutting-edge technology aims to address food waste challenges for businesses, institutions, and communities by offering sustainable waste management solutions.

Muhamad Rangga Bermana, Chief Product Officer at Envmission, emphasized the multifaceted approach of EnvmissionSuite. “This solution integrates waste management, climate risk analysis, carbon project development, and sustainability reporting,” Rangga stated in a press release on December 9, 2024.

The product is tailored for business-to-business (B2B) clients, with five operational locations, including Bogor and BSD, managing up to two tons of waste weekly. EnvmissionSuite’s flagship feature, EnvMeter, enables organizations to calculate greenhouse gas emissions aligned with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol standards. Additionally, its Ecopilot platform facilitates the planning, execution, and monitoring of sustainability initiatives.

Rangga highlighted the suite's capacity to support carbon offset projects adhering to international standards like the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM). "EnvmissionSuite provides a robust digital ecosystem to assist companies and communities in achieving sustainable waste practices," he added.

Future developments include EnvInsight, a platform designed for climate risk analysis and mitigation strategies, particularly beneficial for financial institutions. The startup is also working on EnvReport, a sustainability reporting tool compliant with global standards such as IFRS and GRI, aimed at ensuring transparency and credibility.

Envmission has drawn interest from the Jakarta government. Deftrianov, Head of Development and Environmental Affairs at Jakarta's Regional Planning Board, expressed optimism about potential collaborations. “We are eager to partner with Envmission to tackle food waste issues in Jakarta using their innovative technology,” he stated.

As sustainability becomes a priority for businesses and governments worldwide, EnvmissionSuite exemplifies how technology can drive impactful change in waste management.
