Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Boeing presented 10 startup teams at the Final Demo Day of Boeing University Innovation Leadership Development (BUILD) Indonesia 2026 at ITB Innovation Park, Summarecon Bandung, on October 13, 2026 (13/10).
Three teams received awards in different categories, with each winner receiving Rp50 million in funding support and continued mentoring to develop their innovations.
The event marked the culmination of the program, which connected young Indonesian innovators with experts, industry mentors, and innovation networks to develop technology solutions in aerospace and other sectors, including agriculture and healthcare. BUILD Indonesia 2026 was held in Indonesia for the first time.
ITB and Boeing Develop Indonesia's Innovation Talent
ITB Director of Technology Product Downstreaming and Commercialization Hary Devianto said the partnership reflected Boeing's confidence in Indonesia's human resources and innovation potential.
"Indonesia has enormous human resources and talent, including in technology and engineering. This potential needs to be supported through opportunities for innovation development, mentoring, and collaboration with global-scale industries," Hary said.
He expressed hope that the collaboration would continue beyond this year's program and encourage the development of more innovations in aviation and aerospace.
Boeing Indonesia Managing Director Indra Duivenvoorde also welcomed the partnership with ITB. He explained that aerospace industry development involves more than aircraft manufacturing and requires a strong ecosystem covering education, research, and technology development.
He identified education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) as one of the foundations for building this ecosystem.
Through BUILD Indonesia, participants had opportunities to learn directly from Boeing experts, industry mentors, and ITB's innovation ecosystem. Duivenvoorde said the mentoring helped them test, refine, and develop their ideas to make them more relevant to industry needs.
Aerospace Technology Supports Indonesia's Development Goals
Indonesian Engineers Association (PII) Chairman Ilham Akbar Habibie highlighted the importance of mastering aerospace technology to support national industrial development toward Indonesia Emas 2045.
He explained that aerospace technology extends beyond air transportation and also relates to satellite technology, territorial monitoring, logistics, agriculture, and disaster mitigation.
"For Indonesia as an archipelagic country, mastery of this technology has strategic significance in improving connectivity while addressing various geographical challenges," Ilham said.
He also emphasized the need to increase the number of engineers and strengthen their role in developing high-technology industries. Indonesia's long history of aircraft industry development, he said, demonstrates the nation's ability to master advanced technology.
Ilham added that young people entering the aerospace industry need more than technical skills. They also need resilience, teamwork, and an understanding of real problems in society.
10 Startup Finalists Present Technology and Business Solutions
At the Final Demo Day, the 10 selected startup teams presented their business and technology solutions to a panel of judges. A showcase session also allowed the judges to examine the teams' products and innovations more closely and assess their development potential.
The finalists were GoTani, AeroSphere LCA, Mantis Agritech, Hieren, Avia BSF, Agentic Vibing, Mahalangit, MedFly, SAF and Sound, and Pilotin.id.
The program brought together ideas related to aviation and the application of aerospace technology in other sectors. Through their presentations and product showcases, the teams demonstrated their innovations as part of the program's final evaluation.
Following the assessment, three teams received awards in separate categories. Avia BSF won The Most Impactful, Mantis Agritech received The Most Innovative, and Pilotin.id was named The Most Marketable.
Three Winning Startups Receive Rp50 Million Each
Each winning team received Rp50 million in funding support and continued mentoring to develop its innovation. The awards were part of the program's effort to help ideas developed during BUILD Indonesia gain further opportunities for development and deliver practical benefits to society.
