The House of Representatives (DPR) and the Government have passed the Draft Law on One Data Indonesia into law during the ninth plenary meeting of the first session of the 2026–2027 legislative year in Jakarta (06/10).
The One Data Indonesia Law regulates government data governance, including standardization, interoperability, security and the use of data for national needs. The regulation consists of 20 chapters and 141 articles.
Kemkomdigi to Support Data Interoperability and Digital Infrastructure
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria said the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) would support the connection of government data systems through interoperability and digital infrastructure.
“We are trying to support interoperability and also infrastructure support,” Deputy Minister Nezar said after attending the plenary meeting at the Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (06/10/2026).
Nezar said the implementation of One Data Indonesia involves many ministries and government agencies. Each institution has a role in maintaining and managing data according to its authority.
One Data Indonesia Involves Multiple Ministries and Agencies
“Many ministries and agencies are involved here, which will maintain or manage One Data Indonesia. However, we see that its orchestration is led by Bappenas,” Nezar said.
He said system connectivity is an important part of implementing One Data Indonesia. Kemkomdigi will support the interoperability and infrastructure needed to connect data systems between ministries and agencies according to the established governance framework.
“According to the law, that is the case,” Nezar said when asked about the implementation of One Data Indonesia being placed directly under the President.
Law Establishes Framework for Government Data Management
The One Data Indonesia Law regulates governance through the One Data Indonesia master plan, the One Data Indonesia architecture, data management and the One Data Indonesia cycle.
The regulation also covers data security and protection through data security standards. These provisions place data as an important part of government administration.
During discussions on the bill, the DPR said national basic data would become the main reference for development planning, fiscal policy and budgeting, social assistance distribution and other strategic national needs.
With the enactment of the One Data Indonesia Law, government data management now has a legal basis covering connections between systems, data security and the division of roles among data supervisors, data producers and data custodians.
