The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) is expanding access for Indonesian startups to funding, investors, markets, and global networks through the Global Investment Gateway – Road to Startup World Cup 2026 in Jakarta (06/10).
The program is being held in collaboration with Pegasus Tech Ventures as part of efforts to build a more integrated national entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Riza Damanik, Deputy for Entrepreneurship at the Ministry of UMKM, said the program is aimed at improving the readiness of Indonesian startups to access more diverse sources of funding and build networks with global investors.
“Indonesian startups need to be prepared so that they are increasingly able to access more diverse sources of funding and expand their networks globally,” Riza said.
Global Investment Gateway Connects Startups With Investors
Riza said startup development requires more than training and mentoring. It also needs an integrated approach covering digitalization and marketing, legal compliance and certification, financing and capital, as well as connections to supply chains and national strategic programs.
The approach follows Presidential Regulation No. 38 of 2026 on National Entrepreneurship Development. The regulation directs the development of an integrated entrepreneurship ecosystem involving the government, businesses, universities, investors, communities, and other stakeholders.
“Startups need an ecosystem that can connect innovation with markets, capital, talent, and networks. Therefore, startups are not enough to have innovative products, but also need strong business models and readiness to grow sustainably,” Riza said.
Riza also said connections with investors are important for startups seeking to expand their businesses. Direct interaction with investors allows startups to understand market needs, test the feasibility of their business models, and improve their readiness to obtain funding.
