FEKDI x IFSE 2026 Drives Indonesia’s Digital Economy Through Innovation and Talent Development

Indonesia is strengthening policy coordination, innovation and digital talent development to accelerate its digital economy and finance transformation through the Festival Ekonomi Keuangan Digital Indonesia and Indonesia Fintech Summit & Expo 2026 (FEKDI x IFSE 2026) in Jakarta (24/9).

The three-day event, organized by Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Indonesian Payment System Association (ASPI) and the Indonesian Fintech Association (AFTECH), runs from September 24 to 26, 2026, at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC).

The event carries the theme “Strengthening Synergy, Driving Innovation, Developing Globally Competitive Talent for the Advancement of the National Digital Economy and Finance.”

Indonesia’s Digital Economy Shows Strong Transaction Growth

Digital economic and financial transactions in Indonesia grew 40.36% year-on-year in August 2026, reaching 6.11 billion transactions.

The growth was supported by increased QRIS adoption, which reached 69.32 million users and 47.11 million merchants.

Retail transactions through BI-FAST also continued to expand. In August 2026, BI-FAST recorded 549 million transactions with a total value of Rp1,346 trillion.

Bank Indonesia said the benefits of QRIS adoption would continue to be optimized alongside the growing use of the Indonesia Credit Card.

Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, highlighted the size of Indonesia’s digital economy, saying it was the largest in Southeast Asia, with a value approaching USD100 billion in 2025.

“Indonesia’s digital economy is the largest in Southeast Asia, with a value approaching USD100 billion in 2025 and projected to reach USD180–340 billion by 2030,” Airlangga said.

He said the potential needs to be optimized through innovation and digital talent development so that it can become more inclusive and support national economic growth.

FEKDI x IFSE 2026 Strengthens Digital Economy Policy Coordination

The event was officially opened by Airlangga Hartarto, Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti, OJK Chair Friderica Widyasari Dewi and Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian.

Also attending the opening ceremony were House of Representatives Commission XI Chair Mukhamad Misbakhun, Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Deposit Insurance Corporation Chair Anggito Abimanyu and Statistics Indonesia Chief Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti.

Destry said digital transformation needs to be accelerated amid weak global economic prospects, high financial-market uncertainty and increasingly complex digital risks.

She said the acceleration needs strong coordination among stakeholders, as well as stronger payment-system security and consumer protection.

“FEKDI x IFSE 2026 is a concrete manifestation of synergy to accelerate the digital economy and finance through policies that are impactful, inclusive, and integrated. Digital transformation must be able to increase productivity, strengthen competitiveness, and provide real benefits for society and the national economy,” Destry said.

Friderica said digital transformation should not only focus on increasingly advanced technology but also ensure that innovation provides real benefits to the real economy.

“Therefore, innovation must grow within a safe, inclusive ecosystem supported by strong synergy,” she said.

Tito also stressed the importance of synergy between the central government, regional governments and all stakeholders in strengthening national economic resilience.

Inflation Control and Regional Digitalization

FEKDI x IFSE 2026 also serves as a platform for coordination between Bank Indonesia and the government on inflation control.

The coordination is reflected in the National Coordination Meeting on Inflation Control involving the central and regional inflation-control teams. The cooperation is aimed at maintaining price stability as a foundation for sustainable economic growth.

Tito said the government is paying close attention to inflation in the regions. This includes coordination with regional heads on commodity price developments, commodities that require attention and measures to maintain price stability.

Inflation remained within the 2026 target range of 2.5% plus or minus 1%. In August 2026, consumer price inflation stood at 3.19% year-on-year, while volatile food inflation reached 4.06%.

Bank Indonesia and the government are continuing to strengthen their policy mix and coordination through the inflation-control teams. The measures include implementation of the Central and Regional Inflation Control Movement and preparation for potential risks from El Niño weather disruptions.

The event also announced the winners of the 2026 TPID Awards, covering the best-performing provincial TPID, best-performing regency and city TPID, and outstanding regencies and cities.

The winners were recommended to receive additional fiscal incentives in recognition of their inflation-control performance and to encourage continued efforts to maintain price stability in the regions.

Regional digitalization is also being accelerated to improve governance efficiency, strengthen connectivity among economic actors and support data-based policymaking.

Digital Infrastructure and Talent Take Center Stage

Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, praised QRIS and BI-FAST as innovations by Bank Indonesia and ASPI that provide tangible benefits to the public.

“Digitalization is the entry point to transformation. But transformation does not stop at digitalization. The big question is whether it creates prosperity that is equitable and sustainable,” Agus said.

He said the digital economy and finance require infrastructure that connects people, regions, markets and centers of growth.

Destry also emphasized the importance of policy coordination to ensure that digital transformation creates tangible benefits for the economy and society.

“We promote the spirit of One Homeland, One Nation, and One Language to unite the national digital infrastructure, connect the business sector, financial sector, and government, and build standards so that the entire ecosystem is connected and speaks the same language,” Destry said.

The transformation is supported by the 3I principles, Impactful, Inclusive and Integrative. The principles are intended to ensure that digitalization provides tangible benefits, expands public access and builds a more connected ecosystem.

FEKDI x IFSE 2026 also features strategic initiatives for developing the digital economy and finance ecosystem, including the Digital Talenta Berdaya dan Berkarya (DIGDAYA) training program under the Program Inovasi Digital Indonesia (PIDI).

The PIDI initiative is represented through the Digital Talent Expo, which serves as a platform for national digital innovation competitions and showcases in cooperation with authorities and industry players.

The event also features the OJK Infinity Acceleration Program, which provides education on programs supporting the acceleration of the digital financial ecosystem.

Other initiatives include Digitalization of Social Protection and InaGOV, a digital services portal for civil servants.

FEKDI x IFSE 2026 focuses on national synergy on its first day, digital talent and innovation on its second day, and connectivity in the digital economy and finance sector between countries on its third day.

The public can attend seminars, talk shows, technology innovation showcases, digital experience sessions and networking activities during the three-day event.
