BSI Finishes Core Banking Migration, Boosting Digital Capacity and Customer Experience

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BSI) has completed its Information Technology (IT) system transformation to strengthen digital services and accelerate business growth (01/07).

The transformation is part of BSI’s strategic agenda over the past year, supported and supervised by Danantara.

BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo said the technology transformation has become a strategic requirement amid the rapid digitalization of the financial industry and BSI’s business growth.

“Now BSI stands alongside major banks because it has entered the top five banks in Indonesia. Customers expect services and systems similar to major banks. Therefore, we are working to provide services that meet customer expectations,” Anggoro said.

Core Banking Migration Strengthens BSI’s Technology Infrastructure

The completion of BSI’s IT transformation includes the migration of its core banking system from R10 to R24, which was completed in mid-May 2026.

The project involved around 1,500 personnel from various functions. The migration process was carried out gradually through several rehearsals, with supervision from the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Danantara.

BSI stated that the process was conducted to ensure the implementation was secure, controlled, and transparent.

The technology transformation improved operational efficiency by around 80%, accelerated the Close of Business (COB) process, and increased system capacity to support digital business expansion and product innovation.

BSI’s all-channel availability has reached 99.99%, allowing transactions through digital channels and branches to run smoothly.

“There is still a very large opportunity to grow customers and develop new features in BYOND because the utilized capacity is still below 10%. Customers will experience the benefits of BSI’s new IT strength and speed,” Anggoro said.

Digital Services Expansion Supports Customer Growth Strategy

BSI continues strengthening its digital services through BYOND by BSI for retail customers and BEWIZE by BSI for institutional and wholesale customers.

The transformation also supports BSI’s vision to become a Top 5 Global Islamic Bank and achieve its target of reaching 40 million customers by 2030.

In the past year, BSI recorded growth from its dual licences as a sharia bank and gold bank. According to Anggoro, the gold bank has become a new engine to attract customer segments that were previously unreachable.

The number of BSI customers increased to more than 24 million as of April 2026, following the gold bank licence in February 2025 and BSI’s status change to a state-owned company at the beginning of 2026.

BSI Technology Transformation Improves Efficiency and Business Capacity

During the transformation process, Danantara provided strategic direction, supervision, and ensured that the implementation followed governance and risk management principles.

BSI said all preparations were carried out carefully throughout the transformation process.

As of May 2026, BSI’s mobile banking service had more than 10 million users, with transaction value exceeding Rp450 trillion. Meanwhile, BEWIZE continued recording growth in users and transactions as a driver for wholesale business.

“With support from an increasingly stronger ecosystem together with Danantara, completed technology transformation, and a continuously developing business model, BSI is optimistic that it can become a driving force for the national Islamic economy while providing financial services that are increasingly modern, inclusive, and competitive,” Anggoro said.

The technology transformation and business expansion were reflected in BSI’s financial performance. Until May 2026, BSI recorded unaudited net profit of Rp3.39 trillion, growing 16.73% year-on-year.

BSI reported total assets of Rp444 trillion, third-party funds (DPK) of Rp372 trillion, and financing of Rp335 trillion with maintained quality.
