The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) is extending American leadership in artificial intelligence (AI) by bringing U.S. AI technology to e-commerce platforms in Thailand and Southeast Asia (30/03).

USTDA signed an agreement with Thailand-based aCommerce Group Public Company Limited (aCommerce) to pilot advanced U.S. generative AI and cloud solutions on its platform.

“By facilitating the use of this U.S. technology in Thailand, USTDA is advancing America’s global AI leadership while delivering high-quality solutions to our overseas partners,” said Thomas R. Hardy, USTDA’s Deputy Director.

“This project will promote democratic AI principles like transparency and accountability, offering a trusted alternative to models that rely on surveillance and censorship.”

aCommerce to Deploy U.S. AI Solutions

Washington-based AI provider Ai-ssistance LLC (Ai-ssistance) will lead the pilot project, supported by cloud services from Microsoft Corporation. The USTDA-funded feasibility study will integrate tools such as dynamic content generation, sales automation, and AI-powered shopping assistants to enhance e-commerce operations.

The pilot will evaluate system design, implementation, testing, and quality assurance. If successful, aCommerce plans to expand the project across Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore, opening opportunities for U.S. AI and cloud solution providers.

Supporting Local Businesses and SMEs

The project will give local businesses access to advanced U.S. technology, helping them compete in the regional marketplace and providing small businesses with scalable digital tools. This support allows them to compete with larger regional competitors like China-based Alibaba.
