Indigo, the startup incubator and accelerator program by Telkom Indonesia, is continuing its efforts to drive the growth of local startups by organizing a business matching event with the Yogyakarta Investment Club (YKIC). Held at IndigoHub Jogja, the event aimed to connect startups from various sectors with potential investors and partners to accelerate their business growth.
The highlight of the event was a speed dating session, where startups had the opportunity to pitch their ideas and products to investors in a 1-on-1 format. This direct interaction allowed startups to present their innovations and seek out strategic partnerships with potential buyers or investors, addressing the critical gap many local startups face in accessing the right markets and financial backing.
Patricia Eugene Gaspersz, Senior Manager of Indigo, explained that the business matching event was an essential initiative to help local Yogyakarta-based startups overcome the challenges of introducing their products and connecting with the right business owners. “Most of these startups have excellent products and innovations, but many struggle to find the right market or potential investors. This event is our way of facilitating those connections,” she said.
The session was met with enthusiasm, with various collaborations emerging during the event. These collaborations took the form of new partnerships, transactions, and commitments for further meetings to explore potential synergies. The event demonstrated the power of direct interaction and the value of facilitating such networking opportunities for local businesses.
YKIC, which serves as a platform for various stakeholders to discuss investment opportunities in Yogyakarta, played a key role in this initiative. Yasa Nugroho, Chairman of YKIC, highlighted the importance of creating programs like this business matching event to stimulate investment and improve the business climate in Yogyakarta. “As YKIC grows and gains more members, we continue to receive valuable input on how we can create impactful programs. The speed dating session is just one of the efforts we are undertaking with Indigo to drive investment in the region,” he stated.
Since its founding in 2013, Indigo has been at the forefront of supporting the growth of startups in Indonesia. Through various programs and initiatives, Indigo has nurtured over 200 startups from diverse industries, providing them with funding, mentoring, networking opportunities with investors, and even access to collaboration with Telkom Group. As part of Telkom's commitment to the startup ecosystem, Indigo continues to support innovation by organizing events like this business matching session to address the ever-evolving needs of the market.
Indigo’s collaboration with YKIC is an example of the growing effort to connect investors with promising startups in Indonesia's tech and innovation sectors. By providing these networking platforms, Indigo not only helps startups gain valuable exposure but also contributes to the larger mission of fostering a more robust and dynamic business ecosystem in Indonesia.
