BSI Aceh Banking Services Fully Restored as All 145 Branches Resume Normal Operations After Disaster

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) announced that all banking operations in disaster-affected areas of Aceh have fully recovered, with 100% of branch offices under the Aceh Regional Office operating normally as of Tuesday (30/12).

The bank stated that the restoration ensures customers can again access banking transactions and services across all affected districts and cities in Aceh.

All 145 BSI Branches in Aceh Resume Normal Operations

BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo stated that the recovery reflects the company’s commitment to stabilizing the community’s economy following the disaster. He confirmed that all 145 BSI branch offices in Aceh are now operating at full capacity.

"Alhamdulillah, before the end of the year, all BSI branch offices, totaling 145, have operated 100 percent. This followed the reopening of the Kejuruan Muda Sub-Branch Office on December 23, which made all branches in the Lhokseumawe Area fully operational. This means all disaster-affected regencies and cities in Aceh are now fully covered by BSI services," Anggoro said.

Operational data as of December 30, 2025, shows 50 active branches in the Banda Aceh Area, 59 in the Lhokseumawe Area, and 36 in the Meulaboh Area.

ATM Availability, Agents, and Mobile Cash Units Deployed

From the service perspective, ATM availability in Aceh has reached 84%, with 766 machines operating normally. In the Medan Region, all branches are operating, supported by ATM availability of 95%.

BSI has also optimized other service channels. A total of 18,890 BSI Agents, or 98.15% of all agents in Aceh, are actively serving communities, including remote areas. The largest number of agents is located in the Lhokseumawe Area, totaling 9,635 agents.

To strengthen services at critical points, BSI deployed four Mobile Cash Units stationed at the Kuala Simpang Branch Office and accelerated the second phase of temporary ATM and CRM relocation.

"A total of 15 relocated ATM units have been successfully activated and are serving customers, while eight other units are still in the installation process. This relocation is focused on Aceh Tamiang, Langsa, and Kuala Simpang to facilitate easier access to cash for residents," Anggoro added.

IT Deployment and Task Force Support for Affected Areas

To ensure system stability, BSI carried out large-scale IT deployment. As of the night of 28 December, 88 new PC units were operating normally at 13 outlets, replacing equipment damaged by hydrometeorological disasters.

BSI also formed a Task Force by assigning employees from the Medan, Jakarta 1, and Jakarta 2 regions to support operations in Langsa and Aceh Tamiang. This step was taken to ensure service quality amid high post-disaster transaction needs.

Anggoro conducted inspections across affected branches along the Aceh Tamiang to Takengon route. In addition, Danantara’s Chief Operating Officer visited the BSI BUMN Peduli assistance post in Kuala Simpang to support relief operations and affected employees.

Humanitarian Aid and Support for Pesantren Darul Mukhlisin

Alongside service recovery, BSI continues to distribute humanitarian aid through the BUMN Peduli program. Aid distribution is centered in Aceh Tamiang at the Kuala Simpang Branch Office, with supporting locations in Gampong Meudang Ara, Dusun Metro Jaya, and Landu.

Between 28 December 2025 and 1 January 2026, assistance included two public kitchens producing 6,000 meal portions per day, health posts serving 1,000 patients, psychosocial services, child-friendly zones, a clean water supply, and support for the construction of approximately 90 temporary housing units.

"The total volume of BSI Disaster Response assistance distributed to Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra has reached 125.8 tons. We hope that the 100 percent restored services, together with ongoing humanitarian aid, can accelerate the recovery of our brothers and sisters in Aceh," Anggoro said.

BSI also provided operational assistance to Pesantren Darul Mukhlisin in the form of Qur’ans, prayer equipment, and renovation support worth Rp100 million to support worship and educational activities.

"As we know, pesantren play a major role in shaping young generations with noble character. Therefore, we strive to be present by providing humanitarian and social support as a financial, social, and spiritual partner," Anggoro said.
