Telkomsel, ITB Unveil AI Innovation Hub as Model for Academic and Industry AI Development

Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and Telkomsel officially launched the AI Innovation Hub as a collaborative space for artificial intelligence development at the ITB Ganesha Campus, Bandung (16/12).

The inauguration ceremony was held at the IPTEK Auditorium, CC Timur Building, and was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

Follow-Up to KSTI 2025 Cooperation Agreement

The launch of the AI Innovation Hub is a continuation of a cooperation agreement signed during the Indonesia Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) 2025 in August.

The initiative represents a concrete step to strengthen collaboration between higher education institutions and industry in developing the national artificial intelligence innovation ecosystem.

First Telkomsel-Initiated AI Innovation Center at ITB

Located on the fourth floor of the Labtek VIII Building, School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) ITB, the AI Innovation Hub is the first AI innovation center initiated by Telkomsel.

Its presence at SEEI ITB is expected to encourage applied research and expand the utilization of artificial intelligence technologies across various industry sectors.

Government, Industry, and Academic Support for AI Development

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid stated that the AI Innovation Hub is a strategic initiative to strengthen national digital human resource capacity.

Telkomsel President Director Nugroho said the hub reflects Telkomsel’s commitment to sustainable digital technology utilization and opens opportunities for collaboration among academics, industry players, and the technology community.

ITB Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T., expressed ITB’s support, noting that the hub is expected to bridge scientific knowledge development on campus with applications in society and industry.

Facilities and Public Access at the AI Innovation Hub

The AI Innovation Hub is jointly managed by Telkomsel, ITB, and KODE by Hacktiv8, and is open to the public according to campus operating hours.

Facilities include a Learning Management System (LMS), an AI Solutions Showcase, monthly AI Hub events, and AI laboratory facilities that support artificial intelligence research and development activities.
