PLN ICE Startup Competition 2025 Sees Six Electrification Startups Pitch Clean‑Energy Solutions

Six startup teams competed in the PLN ICE Startup Competition 2025 in Surabaya (23/11). General Manager of PT PLN Puslitbang, Mochamad Soleh, said the competition aims to foster new businesses in Indonesia’s electrification sector.

PLN Supports Growth of Electrification in Society

According to Soleh, PT PLN continues to promote a higher electrification ratio among communities.

“We want to encourage the growth of new businesses in society, especially those related to improving electrification in Indonesia,” he said. The event showcased products connected to energy and electricity, which are expected to help increase electrification levels nationwide.

Promoting Environmentally Friendly Industrial Energy Use

Soleh added that the competition also encourages industries to use cleaner energy. “Then it can also increase electricity consumption,” he stated. “Because once they use electricity, in the future, the electricity will be greener, and the industries can be cleaner than using fossil fuels.”

Startup Innovations Reduce Carbon Emissions

One highlighted startup provides electric batteries for fishermen’s boats, a solution that received praise.

“We saw earlier that fishing boats are already using electric batteries, which means carbon emissions have been significantly reduced,” Soleh said.
