Green Financing Drives BSI’s Solid Growth: Rp300.85 Trillion Total Loans, 12.65% YoY Rise

PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) reported strong business growth through the second quarter of 2025. The bank recorded total financing of Rp300.85 trillion, marking a 12.65% increase year-on-year, above the industry average.

Sustainable Financing Contributes Significantly

BSI’s growth was supported by its focus on sustainable financing, which reached Rp73.6 trillion or 24.33% of total financing. “Our commitment to accelerating sustainable financing aligns with BSI’s vision as a global sharia bank to provide healthy financing in environmentally friendly and sustainable sectors,” said CEO Anggoro Eko Cahyo.

Anggoro added, “Green financing is not just a global trend but a shared responsibility to help Indonesia achieve Net Zero Emission targets. BSI is ready to play a larger role by promoting inclusive and healthy sustainable financing to support the national economy.”

Sharia Principles Meet ESG Standards

BSI emphasizes sharia values, inclusivity, and modern banking while following ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) principles. The bank supports sustainable sectors such as renewable energy, waste management, sustainable agriculture, and green construction, providing both economic and social-environmental benefits.

Collaborating to Strengthen the Green Economy

BSI promotes green economic growth through collaboration with customers, partners, and stakeholders across environmental, social, and policy initiatives. The bank issued ESG Sukuk Sustainability worth Rp8 trillion this year, developed more than 10 BSI villages focusing on natural resource optimization, and ran community programs including ZISWAF initiatives, green buildings like BSI Landmark Aceh and BSI Tower, tree planting of over 50,000 trees, use of 141 electric vehicles with six charging stations, and installation of 70 RVM plastic bottle machines in Java and Bali. BSI also manages seven mosques across Lampung, Jakarta, West Java, Yogyakarta, and East Java, serving about one million worshippers annually.

Community Activities Promote Eco-Friendly Lifestyle

BSI engages with environmentally conscious communities to support green economic initiatives. One example is its participation in AliRun Cinta Bumi 2025, a fun run promoting environmental awareness with the tagline, “Green Step For The Future.” The event aims to encourage young people to adopt healthy and environmentally responsible lifestyles.
