Xendit, an Indonesian payment infrastructure company, is growing its business in Malaysia. This expansion includes operational development through a strategic investment in the local payment gateway Payex in 2023.
After two years, Xendit completed a full acquisition and platform integration this year. The company is building payment infrastructure tailored to the local market and forming a regional expert team with deep knowledge of the Malaysian market.
During this period, Xendit has partnered with over 4,500 Malaysian businesses and processed payments totaling more than RM 5 billion (around IDR 19.6 trillion).
Addressing Complexities in Malaysia’s Payment Systems
Jayson Poon, Country Manager of Xendit Malaysia, said the company aims to eliminate operational obstacles caused by complex and fragmented payment systems.
“Malaysian businesses have innovation and the drive to become regional champions, but complex and fragmented payment systems often create barriers,” Poon stated in a company release on October 13, 2025.
“Xendit works to remove these barriers. We provide reliable payment infrastructure to turn national ambitions into real business outcomes and enable seamless participation in ASEAN’s digital economy,” he added.
Driving Digital Transformation and Cross-Border Commerce
Xendit also supports accelerating the digitalization of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Its platform uses major bank transfers, e-wallets such as Boost and Touch ‘n Go, and credit cards to lower technical and operational barriers for MSMEs entering digital markets.
This approach also allows cross-border expansion by enabling businesses to access Xendit’s network and receive payments from countries including Indonesia and the Philippines.
To ensure financial resilience, Xendit’s platform offers a 99.55% uptime, providing reliable service for businesses and the financial ecosystem.
Alan Kok, Co-Founder of Easy Store, a Xendit partner, said, “We have seen directly how Xendit helps our merchants simplify payments and quickly scale. The integration is seamless, and the support for local payment methods instantly makes cross-border sales easier.”
