Telkom Empowers Indonesian SMEs on 80th Independence Day with Digital Transformation Initiatives

PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) commemorated Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day by reinforcing its role as a key driver of national digitalization and sustainable community benefits.

In line with the national theme, “United, Sovereign, Prosperous People, Advanced Indonesia,” Telkom deepens its commitment to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs), recognized as the backbone of Indonesia’s economy.

Telkom’s President Director Dian Siswarini stated, “This 80th Independence Day reminds us of the importance of unity and strengthening sovereignty to achieve a prosperous society and a more advanced Indonesia. Telkom is not only a digital transformation enabler but also a growth partner for SMEs to evolve, scale, and compete in the digital era. Through various digital initiatives, we strive to boost national economic independence and create tangible benefits for the community.”

Strategic Initiatives Boosting SME Digital Transformation

Telkom’s commitment aligns with Indonesia’s national strategic programs through several key initiatives.

One flagship program is Digi Koperasi, an integrative ecosystem platform for cooperatives under the Merah Putih Village/Urban Cooperative Program (KDMP).

This platform connects cooperatives to state-owned enterprise supply chains, provides access to SME marketplaces, and offers performance monitoring dashboards.

Digi Koperasi aims to strengthen cooperatives as pillars of the community economy and expand SMEs’ market reach.

Digi Koperasi and UMK Digital Fest: Platforms for Market Access

To support SME product marketing, Telkom organizes the UMK Digital Fest, an annual event fostering SME development since 2002.

So far, 88,251 SMEs have benefited from Telkom’s programs, including the Micro and Small Business Funding Program (PUMK), Rumah Kreatif BUMN, and Rumah BUMN.

These efforts follow the 4GO framework: Go Modern, Go Digital, Go Online, and Go Global, to transform SMEs operationally and broaden their global market presence.

Telkom also launched the www.UMKdigital.id portal, serving as a digital hub for SME information, education, and product showcase.

The portal facilitates SME collaboration, knowledge sharing, and wider digital market introduction.

Enhancing Competitiveness through Packaging and Halal Certification

Telkom’s programs to boost SME competitiveness include PackFest, which provided 1.2 million modern packages to 1,500 SMEs to improve product appeal in retail markets.

The HalalFest program has facilitated halal certification for 2,676 SMEs, supporting product quality standards and consumer trust.

Digital Tools Accelerate SME Growth and National Economic Impact

Telkom has implemented 8,293 cashier applications and onboarded 10,478 SMEs to digital platforms like PaDi UMKM, enhancing market access and business efficiency.

Ahmad Reza, SVP of Group Sustainability and Corporate Communication, said, “Telkom consistently delivers relevant SME empowerment programs focused on enhancing competitiveness through market access, product quality improvement, and operational digitalization. We ensure SMEs have equal opportunities to grow, develop, and contribute significantly to the national economy.”
