In the rapidly evolving digital landscape of Indonesia, two innovative startups, Geosquare and SPUN, are leveraging the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to tackle specific challenges in the geospatial and international travel sectors. These companies represent the growing trend of AI adoption within the nation, positioning Indonesia as one of the top three countries globally for AI usage, with over 1.4 million monthly visits to AI platforms.
Geosquare is redefining the way geospatial data is utilized by businesses and governments alike. Using AI, the company visualizes vast amounts of geographic data in a unique way—transforming areas like Jakarta into a grid of “boxes” on a map. Each of these 50x50 meter boxes holds valuable information, such as population density, real estate distribution, or satellite images, making the data easier to access and analyze. Benny Emor, the founder and CEO of Geosquare, emphasizes that the company’s goal is to become the "YouTube" for geospatial data, making it simple and intuitive for users to gain insights from maps and focus on key areas that interest them.
This innovative platform is already being used by several major sectors in Indonesia, including banking. One of the country’s top three banks is using Geosquare’s technology to digitally review properties as collateral for loan applications, reducing time and costs significantly. Additionally, F&B business owners use the platform to analyze population distribution and estimate the potential market for opening new outlets.
On the other hand, SPUN is reshaping the visa and immigration process with AI-driven automation. The startup, which serves over 198 nationalities applying for visas to Indonesia and beyond, utilizes technology to speed up the approval process. By incorporating features like SPUN Chatbot Assistant, Commerce, and Dashboard, the company allows users to automatically verify documents and get detailed visa guidance. Dilla Anindita Purnawan, the co-founder and CPO of SPUN, notes that the technology has significantly reduced the average processing time for certain visa types from 40 minutes to just 3-4 minutes. SPUN also guarantees a refund if a visa application is rejected, offering additional reassurance to users.
SPUN's impact is not limited to Indonesia. The company plans to expand its operations to the Asia-Pacific region, where the visa processing market is worth over $36 billion annually. With 300 million travelers crossing borders each year, SPUN sees massive potential for further growth.
Both Geosquare and SPUN have benefited from Antler’s startup residency program, which helps founders build solid business foundations and develop mature, scalable products. Agung Bezharie Hadinegoro, Partner at Antler Indonesia, highlights the firm’s pride in supporting these companies, noting their innovative solutions are setting new standards in geospatial data and cross-border services.
