BRI Launches BRILiaN Way to Build a High-Performance Culture and Lead Banking in Southeast Asia

PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) reinforces its corporate foundation through the launch of BRILiaN Way, a cultural work initiative aimed at addressing future challenges in the banking industry.

The Kick-Off event for BRILiaN Way, held on July 14, 2025, at Menara Brilian, Jakarta, was attended by the Chief Operating Officer of BPI Danantara, Dony Oskaria; BRI President Director Hery Gunardi; members of the Board of Directors and Senior Executive Vice Presidents; Senior Leaders; and representatives of Insan BRILiaN from across Indonesia.

Dony Oskaria emphasized BRI’s strategic role in Indonesia’s economy, particularly through its extensive service reach to the grassroots level of society.

“BRI, true to its name, is Bank Rakyat Indonesia. I believe no Indonesian is unfamiliar with BRI. With more than 7,000 branches and over 1 million AgenBRILink, BRI’s presence reaches every corner of the nation and becomes an essential part of community life,” said Dony.

BRI’s Journey to Becoming Indonesia’s Most Profitable Bank

Dony further noted that BRI is entering a new phase of its transformation journey.

“BRI has become the most profitable bank in Indonesia. Previous leaders laid a very strong foundation. Few bankers have managed to bring an institution to this point with extraordinary performance, profitability, network, customer base, and assets,” he explained.

The launch of BRILiaN Way is seen by Dony as a crucial component for the continuity of BRI’s transformation agenda.

He views the values embraced by the initiative as comprehensive and relevant to meeting future challenges.

“I see that BRI’s transformation encompasses all critical aspects needed to face future challenges. Change must start from our mindset. If our mindset does not change, transformation will never happen. Becoming the most profitable bank in Southeast Asia by 2030 is not impossible, considering BRI’s vast network and customer base. Therefore, transformation is no longer an option but a necessity,” Dony emphasized.

BRILiaN Way: The Cultural Pillar for Long-Term Organizational Readiness

BRI President Director Hery Gunardi underlined culture transformation as a key pillar in shaping an organization ready to meet long-term challenges.

He noted that the development of the BRILiaN Way followed a participatory and structured process involving multiple organizational layers.

As part of the transformation, BRI established BRILiaN Way as a shared cultural direction and foundation in work ethic.

The initiative promotes five core values: Integrity, Collaborative, Accountability, Growth Mindset, and Customer Focus, which serve as guidelines for behaviors all Insan BRILiaN must embody in their roles.

“Through BRILiaN Way as a collective commitment to internalizing a high-performance and performance-driven culture at BRI, the company is optimistic about advancing comprehensive transformation steps toward realizing the aspiration of becoming The Most Profitable Bank in Southeast Asia by 2030,” Hery said.
