BRI Cuts Cost of Funds to 3.5% in Q1 2025 With Strong CASA and Digital Banking Growth

PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) continues to deliver positive performance amid global economic uncertainty.

A key strategy driving this resilience is the bank’s focus on managing low-cost funds (Current Account Saving Account or CASA) to maintain funding efficiency and long-term business stability.

By the end of Q1 2025, BRI’s third-party funds (DPK) stood at IDR 1,421.60 trillion. CASA contributed 65.77% of this total, equivalent to IDR 934.95 trillion.

This marked an increase in CASA’s share compared to the same period last year, reflecting BRI’s consistent strategy in reinforcing a sustainable funding structure.

Cost of Funds Declines in Line with CASA Growth

The effectiveness of BRI’s funding strategy is reflected in a decline in its cost of funds. In Q1 2025, the bank’s cost of funds fell to 3.5%, down from 3.6% in Q1 2024.

This indicates improved funding efficiency and enhances BRI’s competitiveness in the national banking sector.

BRImo App Supports Digital CASA Accumulation

Corporate Secretary BRI Agustya Hendy Bernadi stated that the growth in low-cost funds was supported by digital service optimization.

"Growth in low-cost funds is inseparable from the optimization of BRI’s digital services, especially through the BRImo super app, expansion of the AgenBRILink network, and development of transaction banking and merchant ecosystems," said Hendy.

As of March 2025, the BRImo super app had 40.28 million users, up 20.26% year-on-year.

During Q1 2025, BRImo facilitated 1.2 billion financial transactions, growing 25.5% from the previous year.

Transaction volume reached IDR 1,599 trillion, an increase of 27.79% year-on-year.

AgenBRILink Network Sees Substantial Expansion

By the end of Q1 2025, BRI had 1.2 million AgenBRILink agents, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 49.48%.

These agents operated across more than 67,000 villages, covering over 88% of Indonesia’s total villages.

Total transaction volume through AgenBRILink in Q1 2025 reached IDR 423 trillion.

Transaction Banking Strengthens CASA Base

Transaction banking plays a vital role in supporting BRI’s CASA strategy by offering integrated financial solutions.

"Transaction banking is one of BRI's key pillars in consistently building CASA. By providing end-to-end solutions, BRI not only fosters institutional and merchant loyalty but also strengthens the third-party fund base efficiently," Hendy added.
