Yandex Supports Indonesia’s Digital Talent with AI Training

The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi), in collaboration with global tech company Yandex, has launched a free online training and competition titled Linear Models in Machine Learning: Fundamentals, Applications, and Competition. This initiative is part of the Digital Talent Scholarship (DTS) Program, managed by the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) under the Ministry.

Bonifasius Pudjianto, Head of BPSDM, stated that this training supports the mission of DTS to enhance digital skills, competitiveness, and productivity. The training is accessible through the DTS platform and is available to digital technology professionals, students, and civil servants.

Digital Talent Scholarship Program Expands with Practical Python Learning

Bonifasius explained that the training is designed for self-paced learning, with hands-on labs and case studies, allowing participants to apply machine learning models using Python and scikit-learn. Topics covered include common machine learning challenges, model validation techniques, and transforming business problems into machine learning solutions.

Bonifasius also highlighted that machine learning drives innovation in key sectors such as transportation, agriculture, healthcare, and e-commerce. He added that the program aims to equip Indonesia’s digital workforce with the relevant skills needed by industries, aligning with the country’s national digital transformation vision.

Four-Stage Curriculum Covers Linear Models and Real-World Use Cases

The program consists of four stages:

  1. Micro Skill Program: Self-study modules developed by BPSDM to introduce foundational concepts.
  2. Linear Models in Machine Learning—Fundamentals: Participants learn Python for data analytics and basic mathematics for machine learning, including NumPy, linear algebra, and probability.
  3. Linear Models in Machine Learning—Applications: An in-depth study of linear regression using Python and Scikit-Learn to build, evaluate, and validate machine learning models.
  4. Linear Models in Machine Learning—Competition: Participants who complete the first three stages and submit original assignments will be invited to the competition, where they will solve real-world challenges. The best performers will receive awards.

Yandex Brings Global Expertise to Support Indonesia’s AI Ecosystem

Alexander Popovskiy, CEO of Yandex Search International, stated that participants will receive support from local reviewers chosen by Yandex’s machine learning experts in Indonesia. He explained that the training combines academic knowledge with industry-ready skills. “Mastering linear models opens the door to solving both local and global challenges,” Popovskiy said.

Popovskiy further emphasized that the training offers participants the opportunity to explore data science and machine learning, preparing them for careers in future technology sectors. Yandex remains committed to supporting the growth of the AI community globally, with this training being an example of that commitment.
