Perupadata, a data-driven EduTech startup born during the pandemic, is solidifying its position as a key player in Indonesia’s digital transformation. With a vision to simplify and visualize credible data, Perupadata addresses the rising challenge of disinformation in an increasingly digital society.
Director Fadi Filip highlighted the challenges of the "Tech Winter," a period marked by a 33.19% decline in funding in 2023. Instead of succumbing to these difficulties, Perupadata pivoted toward efficiency and profitability. “We want to keep evolving while improving public information literacy,” Fadi said.
The company has seen remarkable success, reporting a 17x increase in sales over two years despite a temporary client reduction in 2023 due to strategic shifts. It now focuses on sustainability, targeting projects that align with social, environmental, and climate-related issues.
Perupadata’s flagship products include infographics, fact sheets, and comprehensive reports designed to make complex policies and phenomena understandable for the public. Founder Imam Safingi emphasized the importance of storytelling in data. “The data we provide is not just numbers but tells a story,” he stated.
The pandemic accelerated digital adoption across sectors, creating new opportunities for startups like Perupadata. However, it also exposed weaknesses in the startup ecosystem, including funding gaps and operational pressures. Many companies adapted by shifting to logistics or digital payment services.
Amid these challenges, Perupadata remained steadfast in its mission to create a lasting social impact. By partnering with substantial clients and prioritizing high-value projects, it weathered the storm and emerged stronger. The company now aims to integrate advanced technologies like blockchain, AI, and IoT to expand its reach.
Perupadata has become a model for using technology to educate the public, bridging the gap between complex information and everyday understanding. Its commitment to sustainability and innovation ensures its relevance in the evolving digital landscape.
Imam acknowledged the ongoing challenges, such as limited internet access in some regions and regulatory hurdles. Yet he expressed optimism about the future. By addressing these barriers with creative solutions, Perupadata sets the stage for broader market expansion and deeper societal impact.
