In an era where sustainability is becoming crucial to business success, SUN Energy, a leading provider of renewable energy solutions in Indonesia, is intensifying its efforts to transform industries with solar energy. The company has taken a significant step by expanding its service offerings beyond "Solar As A Service" to a more comprehensive "Sustainability As A Service" model, catering to green industries and global sustainability standards.
The newly launched service is designed to support industries in reducing their carbon footprint while optimizing energy consumption. As Oky Gunawan, Chief of Sales at SUN Energy, explained, this shift is not just about helping businesses reduce their carbon emissions but also creating an operational ecosystem that is both energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. By providing flexible, integrated solutions, SUN Energy aims to help companies meet international sustainability standards and stay competitive in the evolving market that increasingly values environmental stewardship.
As of November 2024, SUN Energy has already achieved notable success, installing 175 MWp of rooftop solar power systems in Indonesia and expanding its presence across Southeast Asia and Australia. These achievements highlight the growing interest in renewable energy solutions, particularly in high-energy-demand sectors like cement, mining, and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG). "The demand for renewable energy is rising, and we’ve seen FMCG companies like Unilever and Sidomuncul join our client list," said Oky.
In 2024, over 55% of SUN Energy’s solar installations took place in West Java and Greater Jakarta, with significant contributions from East Java and Central Java. This year, the company is targeting a substantial growth of more than double its current capacity, with an ambitious forecast to reach significant growth by next year.
An essential part of SUN Energy's expanded offerings is the introduction of NIRA, a service aimed at sustainable water management. NIRA provides businesses with water recycling solutions, optimizing water usage and reducing waste. With growing concerns about water consumption in industries such as textiles and food and beverage, NIRA’s services cater to sectors looking to adopt greener operational practices.
In addition, SUN Energy is also focusing on increasing the adoption of solar power in residential and commercial sectors. Their subsidiary, SUN Terra, is already seeing strong interest in solar installations for residential properties, with nearly 1,000 customers in 2024. As the demand for clean energy solutions rises, SUN Energy is set to continue its expansion into new markets, helping more industries embrace sustainability and energy efficiency.
By offering both solar power solutions and innovative services like NIRA, SUN Energy is positioning itself as a key player in Indonesia’s renewable energy transition, helping businesses achieve their sustainability goals while contributing to the global push for greener energy solutions.
