How Local Startup Niriksagara Is Helping Rebuild Flood-Hit Aceh Tamiang

Indonesia's Ministry of Creative Economy is using technology developed by local startup Niriksagara to map infrastructure conditions and regional needs in Aceh Tamiang, supporting government efforts to identify post-disaster recovery priorities following the floods that hit Sumatra in November 2025 (14–16/10).

The mapping activities were conducted through the Ekraf Peduli: Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Priority Profiling program in Aceh Tamiang Regency from October 14 to 16, 2026. The initiative aims to provide information about infrastructure conditions and regional needs to support rehabilitation and reconstruction planning.

Ministry Uses Technology to Support Post-Disaster Recovery

Through the Ekraf Peduli program, the Ministry of Creative Economy is encouraging the use of technological innovation to address practical challenges faced by regional communities. The mapping process is intended to provide local governments with a more comprehensive understanding of conditions and needs in affected areas.

Dandy Yudha Feryawan, Director of Technology Creativity at the Ministry of Creative Economy, said the initiative would help local governments identify recovery priorities and explore solutions based on the needs of individual areas.

"Through the Ekraf Peduli Program, we want to encourage technological innovation to help address concrete problems faced by regions. This mapping is an initial step toward obtaining a more comprehensive picture of conditions and needs on the ground. The results can therefore serve as a consideration for local governments in identifying response priorities and exploring solutions based on the needs of each area," Dandy said.

The program is part of the ministry's efforts to strengthen the foundations of post-disaster recovery through collaboration and the use of domestic technological innovation.

Local Startup Niriksagara Joins Infrastructure Mapping Initiative

The Ministry of Creative Economy is working with Niriksagara, an Indonesian technology startup that has developed artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology for mapping infrastructure and economic activities.

The initiative is coordinated with several departments within the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government. The Department of Tourism, Youth and Sports facilitates coordination, while the Department of Communication and Informatics and the Department of Agriculture, Plantations and Livestock contribute technical information and support according to their respective responsibilities.

Muhammad Farij, Acting Head of the Aceh Tamiang Department of Tourism, Youth and Sports, welcomed the mapping activities conducted by the ministry and the local government.

"We welcome the mapping activities carried out by the Ministry of Creative Economy together with the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government. Support from regional government departments, in accordance with their respective duties and authorities, is important in providing information about regional conditions and needs that require attention. We hope the mapping results can serve as a consideration in discussions on response priorities and further coordination with stakeholders," Farij said.

Farij also said the collaboration was expected to continue through discussions on the mapping results and follow-up actions based on regional needs and the responsibilities of each participating institution.

Mapping Identifies Strategic Locations in Aceh Tamiang

The mapping team identified several strategic locations across Aceh Tamiang Regency, including Tamiang Sport Center, the Amphitheater Building, the Paya Udang rice fields, access roads leading to Pulau Rukui Beach and Dam Rengas bathing area, as well as the central government complex.

The locations were included in the mapping process to provide information about infrastructure conditions and regional requirements. The findings are expected to help local authorities identify areas requiring attention and determine priorities for further recovery efforts.

The involvement of various regional government departments also supports the collection and exchange of technical information based on the characteristics of each location.

Data Collection Supports Infrastructure Rehabilitation Planning

Ekraf Peduli is part of the Ministry of Creative Economy's commitment to supporting the Master Plan for the Acceleration of Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Following the Sumatra Disasters.

The mapping results are expected to strengthen local government databases and provide information for assessing infrastructure rehabilitation needs, regional accessibility and opportunities to restore community economic activities.

The participation of Niriksagara also represents an effort to encourage Indonesian startups to develop technological innovations that address national development needs, including post-disaster recovery.

Through the collaboration, the Ministry of Creative Economy and the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government expect mapping results to support further discussions, coordination and follow-up measures. The initiative is intended to support rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts that are more targeted and responsive to the characteristics and needs of each region.
