The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has appointed Henry Rialdi as Deputy Commissioner for Regulation and Supervision of the Mineral and Strategic Commodities Exchange (BMKS) in Jakarta (19/08).
OJK Chairman of the Board of Commissioners Friderica Widyasari Dewi led the appointment and swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday.
The appointment is part of OJK’s efforts to strengthen its institutional capacity in carrying out its mandate under the Financial Sector Development and Strengthening Law (UU P2SK).
OJK Prepares Regulation and Supervision for BMKS
Friderica said the state has high expectations for the success of the BMKS, particularly in addressing practices such as transfer pricing and under-invoicing, which she said have caused significant losses to Indonesia.
“The country's expectations are very high for the success of this mineral and strategic commodities exchange. We hear a lot of expectations from many parties, especially from the President, that later this exchange will answer many things, especially related to transfer pricing practices and under-invoicing that are very detrimental to the Indonesian nation,” Friderica said.
Indonesia is one of the major producers of various minerals and strategic commodities. However, the country has not yet gained optimal benefits from this position because the pricing of several commodities has not been formed domestically.
The BMKS is expected to strengthen trade governance and support more transparent price formation so that Indonesia can obtain greater added value from its mineral and strategic commodities.
BMKS Receives Attention in President’s State Address
The OJK mandate to regulate and supervise the BMKS was also highlighted by the President in the state address on August 14, 2026.
Friderica said this reflects the high expectations placed on OJK to ensure that the BMKS operates effectively and produces optimal results in line with its mandate.
“We certainly need to prepare from the beginning, starting from the POJK, regulations, to supervision, so that the presence of the BMKS can provide optimal results in accordance with the mandate given to OJK,” Friderica said.
OJK Begins Building BMKS Regulatory Framework
The appointment of the Deputy Commissioner for BMKS Regulation and Supervision is one of OJK’s first steps in preparing the regulatory, supervisory, and development framework for the BMKS ecosystem.
The function is expected to ensure that mineral and strategic commodity trading is conducted in an orderly, transparent, and integrity-based manner, while also strengthening risk management and governance.
With institutional strengthening and regulatory and supervisory frameworks prepared from the beginning, OJK is committed to ensuring that the BMKS can develop as a credible part of the mineral and strategic commodity trading ecosystem.
The BMKS is expected to improve trade transparency and integrity, strengthen domestic price formation, and optimize the added value of mineral and strategic commodity resources for the welfare of the people, nation, and state.
