Danantara Forms PT Denera to Manage and Expand National Waste-to-Energy Initiatives

Danantara Indonesia announced the establishment of PT Daya Energi Bersih Nusantara (PT Denera), an integrated waste management company that will serve as a holding entity for Waste-to-Energy projects in Indonesia (09/04).

The company was officially formed on April 1, 2026, to manage and consolidate all Pengelolaan Sampah Menjadi Energi Listrik (PSEL) initiatives across the country.

PT Denera to Consolidate National Waste-to-Energy Operations

PT Denera was established by PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM) to centralize investment, development, and operational activities for PSEL projects in multiple regions.

Under this structure, PT Denera will act as a holding company for Badan Usaha Pengembang dan Pengelola (BUPP), which are formed through partnerships between PT Denera and selected consortium partners.

This model is intended to improve efficiency in project management and strengthen coordination across stakeholders.

Strengthening Governance and Attracting Investment

According to Pandu Patria Sjahrir, the establishment of PT Denera reflects Danantara’s commitment to building a strong and transparent institutional framework for integrated waste management.

"Pembentukan PT Denera merupakan wujud komitmen Danantara Indonesia untuk membangun struktur kelembagaan yang kuat dan transparan dalam pengelolaan sampah yang terintegrasi di Indonesia."

He stated that PT Denera will ensure that operational standards, investment governance, and coordination with domestic and international partners are carried out effectively and accountably.

The structure is also expected to support investor participation and facilitate technology transfer in waste processing.

Supporting National Policy on Renewable Energy from Waste

The formation of PT Denera aligns with Peraturan Presiden Nomor 109 Tahun 2025 on urban waste management through environmentally friendly renewable energy solutions.

This initiative supports the government’s vision to create cleaner, more resilient, and sustainable cities.

Danantara’s PSEL program targets the development of waste-to-energy facilities in several cities across Indonesia.

Expanding Integrated Waste Management Solutions

Pandu added that PT Denera will serve as a structured and competitive investment platform while acting as a catalyst for upstream waste management.

"Dengan PT Denera, kami menciptakan platform investasi yang terstruktur dan berdaya saing tinggi."

He also noted that the company will manage various types of waste as part of a comprehensive and integrated approach.

Danantara Indonesia stated its commitment to delivering long-term value for the environment and communities through sustainable waste management solutions.
