Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison announced a strategic initiative to expand artificial intelligence (AI) access across Indonesia through collaboration with NVIDIA, unveiled at NVIDIA GTC 2026 in San Jose, United States (20/03).
The company introduced its use of the open-source Nemotron model to strengthen AI capabilities in Indonesia.
Indosat stated that AI must be inclusive, ensuring that no Indonesian is left behind in the country’s AI future.
Distributed AI Grid to Strengthen National Infrastructure
To support this initiative, Indosat is building a distributed AI Grid using its nationwide data centers and network infrastructure.
This system distributes AI computing power across multiple locations, bringing access closer to developers, businesses, and communities in different regions.
The approach enables faster access to AI computing while creating broader opportunities for innovation beyond major cities.
Indosat expects the AI Grid to accelerate local AI solution development and expand AI benefits across Indonesia.
Sahabat-AI Platform Enhances Everyday AI Use
Indosat also introduced Sahabat-AI, an AI-based application platform available on Android and iOS.
The platform allows individuals and organizations to use AI for writing, research, coding, image creation, and deeper analysis.
Sahabat-AI is developed with a local approach to better understand Indonesian communication, including regional languages and cultural context.
Indosat Pushes Inclusive AI for Nationwide Adoption
Vikram Sinha, President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, emphasized the importance of equal AI access.
“We believe the future of AI in Indonesia must be enjoyed by everyone, not only in big cities or by certain industries. By combining world-class technology such as NVIDIA’s Nemotron model, our national AI infrastructure, and platforms like Sahabat-AI, we want to bring AI benefits closer to everyday life for people across Indonesia,” he said.
