Bank Indonesia Launches PIDI to Boost Digital Talent Development and Innovation in Indonesia’s Digital Economy

Bank Indonesia (BI) has launched the Pusat Inovasi Digital Indonesia (PIDI) to strengthen young digital talent and accelerate the nation’s digital economy (23/02). The program was initiated in Jakarta in collaboration with the Financial Services Authority (OJK), ASPI, AFTECH, APUVINDO, and LPPI.

PIDI is designed to accelerate digital solutions ready for industry adoption, expand financial inclusion, and deliver tangible benefits to the national economy. This initiative aligns with Indonesia’s long-term vision, Asta Cita, and the Indonesia Emas 2045 strategy by developing adaptive, innovative, and globally competitive digital talent.

Gubernur BI, Perry Warjiyo, stated: “Digital transformation not only requires technological progress but also a human resource ready to turn ideas into real solutions. Through PIDI, Bank Indonesia is building an ecosystem so that young talent innovation can meet the increasingly complex needs of the digital industry, strengthen financial system stability, and drive inclusive economic growth.”

PIDI Builds Collaborative Ecosystem for Talent, Regulators, and Industry

PIDI brings together young talent, regulators, industry, and investors in a collaborative ecosystem. The initiative ensures that innovations move from ideas to practical implementation, strengthening financial stability and supporting inclusive economic growth.

Through cross-sector collaboration, BI aims to foster a secure, resilient, and globally competitive digital economy. The program encourages innovations that enhance efficiency, broaden financial access, and support societal welfare.

Digdaya and Hackathon: Structured Skill Development Programs

PIDI consists of two main programs: Digdaya and Hackathon.

  • Digdaya (Digital Talenta Berdaya dan Berkarya) offers structured training and tiered certification to improve the competence and professionalism of young digital talent.
  • Hackathon acts as a national innovation lab, allowing participants to test ideas, build prototypes, and validate solutions based on real industry needs.

Participants receive structured training, professional mentoring, certification, business matching, and job fair opportunities. Programs focus on three problem statements: financial resilience and innovation, productivity and job creation, and acceleration of public services and the digital creative economy.

Focus Areas: Financial Resilience, Productivity, and Public Services

PIDI addresses three main national priority areas for digital innovation:

  1. Strengthening Financial Resilience and Innovation – Including financial system stability, consumer protection, financial inclusion, and digitalization of central and regional financial services.
  2. Increasing Productivity and Job Creation – Empowering SMEs, digitalizing food supply chains, and creating new digital economy jobs.
  3. Accelerating Public Services and Creative Digital Economy – Encouraging digitalization of public services, strengthening tourism and creative economy, and accelerating digital service exports to improve Indonesia’s global competitiveness.

The program is implemented through three pillars: Market Intelligence, Innovation Experimentation, and Digital Talent Development, ensuring that ideas develop into practical and scalable solutions.

Registration Opens for PIDI Digdaya x Hackathon 2026

The program, themed “Innovating for the Future, Empowering Digital Talent,” officially opened registration for Digdaya x Hackathon 2026 from February 23 to March 27, 2026. Teams passing the initial selection stage will participate in training tailored to real industry needs to refine their innovative ideas.

In the next stage, selected teams will visualize their innovations through proof-of-concept videos. The best ideas will be developed into prototypes with mentor guidance and connected to industry and investors as off-takers, ensuring that solutions are practical and scalable.

Participants gain access to structured training, professional mentoring, certification, networking, and opportunities for business matching and job placement. The competition is open to professionals and students, with total prizes and incubation funding available to support the deployment of products.
