Inside Danantara’s 2026 Investment Strategy: Diversification, National Impact, and Execution Discipline

Danantara Indonesia presented its 2026 Corporate Work Plan and Budget (RKAP) during a hearing with Commission XI of the House of Representatives in Jakarta (01/12). The presentation outlined the institution’s investment roadmap under Danantara Investment Management, structured to balance sustainable returns and national economic impact.

The strategy is based on a dual mandate: generating long-term financial gains while strengthening Indonesia’s economic resilience. Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, CEO of Danantara Indonesia, said the plan was designed using a measured, intergenerational value-creation approach.

“Our roadmap is designed with a measured and intergenerational value-creation approach,” he said.

“Our mandate is clear: deliver healthy returns for the state while ensuring each investment strengthens Indonesia’s economic resilience and drives national transformation.”

Investment Strategy Focused on Risk Balance and Diversification

Danantara’s 2026 investment approach emphasizes strengthening strategic sectors, expanding strategic projects, and diversifying its portfolio across multiple asset classes and geographical areas.

Rosan explained that each investment decision must meet two requirements and contribute to long-term public benefit.

“Every investment decision must serve two goals: preserve national assets and ensure long-term value for the public,” he stated.

Chief Investment Officer Pandu Patria Sjahrir highlighted the importance of governance rigor, risk mitigation, and disciplined execution in the 2026 investment framework.

“Our 2026 RKAP is designed to strengthen investment readiness, deepen due diligence quality, and ensure balance between risk and return,” he said.

“Our priority is ensuring that every project is not only bankable but truly delivers additional value to the Indonesian economy.”

He added that governance standards, transparency, and process integrity remain the core principles guiding the fund’s investment decisions.

Examples of Projects Aligned with National Priorities

Danantara outlined several strategic projects included in the 2026 roadmap.

One example is the Kampung Haji project in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, initiated under Presidential Instruction No. 15/2025. The initiative aims to improve long-term accommodation for Indonesian pilgrims and support the development of the halal ecosystem.

The project is expected to create up to 7,500 Indonesian jobs and generate more than Rp2.5 trillion annually.

“This project is not only about accommodation, but about opening new economic opportunities for Indonesia and improving public service standards for pilgrims,” Rosan said.

Danantara also referenced its waste-to-energy (WtE) programme as a priority domestic initiative. The programme is estimated to create up to 4,500 construction jobs and contribute around Rp1.6 trillion per year to Indonesia’s economy.

The initiative supports national energy resilience and responds to urgent waste management challenges.

Clarification on Capital Market Speculation

Danantara also responded to public speculation about a Rp16 trillion investment plan in the Indonesian capital market. Managing Director of Treasury Ali Setiawan said the information circulating was inaccurate.

“Earlier, there was a question about the Rp16 trillion investment in the capital market, I said no. It is not true,” he stated.

Ali noted that Danantara had never announced plans to purchase specific shares. He emphasized that the institution will support domestic financial market development, but not based on speculative assumptions or predetermined spending targets.

Portfolio Governance and Institutional Alignment

Rosan explained that closer integration between Danantara Investment Management and Danantara Asset Management aims to streamline investment execution and state-owned enterprise asset restructuring.

“We are committed to building intergenerational value, investments that matter today and remain impactful for decades to come,” he said.

The session fulfilled the consultative requirement under Law No. 16/2025 on the National Investment Holding and served as a platform for communicating Danantara’s investment priorities and performance outlook for the coming year.
