BNI Supports Indonesian Diaspora Restaurants in Netherlands with Major Loan Facility

PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) has strengthened its global presence by supporting Indonesian diaspora businesses through the BNI Diaspora Loan program. The bank recently provided financing to VOF Waroeng Padang Lapek (WPL), a popular Minang cuisine restaurant in The Hague.

Waroeng Padang Lapek Strengthens Operations with New Financing

Established in 2020 at Schoolstraat 35, Grote Markt, Den Haag Centrum, Waroeng Padang Lapek has grown under the ownership of Suprapti and her family. The restaurant now operates a central kitchen at Mercuriusweg 70, serving as a hub for production and distribution to ensure consistent quality and operational efficiency.

BNI provided a new credit facility of EUR 228,750 (approximately IDR 3.9 billion) on October 15, 2025. This funding allows WPL to purchase its central kitchen property, a step aimed at solidifying long-term business growth. The agreement was signed in the Netherlands with BNI Deputy Director Alexandra Askandar, BNI London General Manager Gandipa Jaya, and BNI Amsterdam Chief Representative Dwi Wibowo, alongside WPL owners Suprapti, Tony Ochtman, and Jordan Syah Antonio Ochtman.

Strategic Role of BNI Diaspora Loan Program for Global Entrepreneurs

“The Diaspora Loan Program is a tangible form of BNI's support for Indonesian diaspora entrepreneurs so that they can grow and bring the flavors of the archipelago to the global stage,” said Alexandra Askandar.

This new facility continues a business relationship established in November 2022, when BNI Amsterdam first disbursed EUR 50,000 (around IDR 850 million) to WPL. The initial funds were used to enhance production capacity and procure professional kitchen equipment.

BNI’s Diaspora Loan Program offers not only financing but also financial education and business assistance. This enables Indonesian diaspora entrepreneurs to manage their businesses professionally and compete globally.

BNI’s Commitment to Indonesian Culture and Culinary Heritage Abroad

“BNI will continue to support the business potential of the Indonesian diaspora in various countries so that they can grow stronger and become the pride of the nation,” Alexandra added.

Through initiatives like the support for Waroeng Padang Lapek, BNI reaffirms its role as a strategic partner for Indonesian diaspora entrepreneurs, promoting Indonesian culture and cuisine worldwide.
