Indonesia Aims to Develop 4 Million Digital Talents and Technopreneurs by 2025

The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kominfo) launched the Garuda Spark Innovation Hub (GSIH) Jakarta, aiming to produce four million digital talents and technology entrepreneurs (2/10). This ambitious goal includes developing two million digital talents and two million technopreneurs exclusively from this innovation hub. Minister Meutya Hafid emphasized that additional programs are underway under the leadership of Pak Boni, Head of BPSDM, focused on enhancing digital literacy and talent.

Government's Strategic Vision for Accelerating Digital Ecosystem Growth

Minister Meutya Hafid highlighted that GSIH is designed to accelerate Indonesia’s startup ecosystem to compete on a global scale. She described the initiative as a powerful force driving digitalization and economic independence in Indonesia. The hub aligns with the government’s broader vision of ensuring fairness and fostering self-reliance through digital transformation.

Phased Development and Activation of Garuda Spark Innovation Hub

GSIH is being developed in sequential phases starting from its launch, followed by activation, and then the formation of networks at city and provincial levels. The goal is to create a sustainable and interconnected ecosystem that links local startups with global digital innovation networks. “Today, we launched and immediately activated the hub; there is no need to wait,” Meutya stated during the Indonesia Digital Nation 2025 event.

Regional Success and Expansion Towards Global Digital Integration

As a proof of concept, GSIH Bandung, inaugurated on September 27, 2025, has already initiated various activities connecting startup players with expert mentors. Minister Meutya noted, “The list of speakers in Bandung is quite extensive, showing the enthusiasm of many professionals willing to train and share knowledge.” Moving forward, the program plans to expand its network from cities to provinces, aiming within one to two years to integrate with the global digital ecosystem.

Building Resilience Amid Global Tech Industry Challenges

Acknowledging global industry uncertainties, Minister Meutya encouraged startups to maintain optimism. She referred to the commonly used phrase “winter is coming” in tech but insisted, “We must not feel weak with that statement. We believe Indonesia’s potential is vast, and certainly, our digital ecosystem will rise.” Her message underscores a commitment to perseverance amid changing global technology landscapes.
