OJK: 61.69% of Fintech Lending Funded by Banks, Boosting MSME Access

Bank financing to financial technology (fintech) companies in Indonesia has reached Rp49.4 trillion, accounting for 61.69% of total peer-to-peer (P2P) lending disbursed as of February 2025, according to the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

MSMEs Drive the Growth of Bank-Fintech Lending

During this period, total loan distribution through fintech reached Rp80.07 trillion. Of this, bank funding contributed Rp49.40 trillion.

Dian Ediana Rae, Chief Executive of Banking Supervision at OJK, stated that collaboration between banks and fintech companies offers significant business potential in supporting financial intermediation, particularly for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

“Especially targeting the MSME segment, this can improve access and financial services for the public in order to support deepening and expanding financial inclusion,” said Dian in an official statement in Jakarta, Friday (30/5).

Risk Management Remains Central in Bank-Fintech Partnerships

Dian emphasized that banks continue to apply prudential principles when distributing credit through P2P lending firms or their partners.

“To maintain sustainable growth, among other efforts, banks conduct evaluations of their partnerships, including periodic assessments of partner performance and feasibility,” he added.

OJK has issued guidelines for cooperation between banks and fintech as a reference for banking institutions in applying professional judgment according to their needs.

“This encourages increased cooperation while still upholding prudential principles and sound governance,” said Dian.
